  1. The Jays won't wait a 1/10th of a second longer than they have to before signing that $600,000 buyout cheque
  2. 2014 - 29 - Toronto Blue Jays $7,500,000 $7.5M paid by Toronto Blue Jays 2015 - 30 - Toronto Blue Jays $7,500,000 $7.5M paid by Toronto Blue Jays 2016 - 31 - Toronto Blue Jays *$13,100,000 $13.1M Team Option, $600k Buyout Romero to make $0.1M donation to club charity
  3. No - we're on the hook for two more years of Ricky Ro, unfortunately
  4. Well yeah. Getting rid of Ricky makes taking on Kinsler's overly-generous contract palatable. And getting Kinsler definitely makes the team better.
  5. Anything that gets rid of Ricky and frees up 7.5M a year for 2 years is a steal
  6. Also, no one likes having to prove that they've "still got it" year after year either Just ask this guy: http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/David%2BOrtiz%2BBoston%2BRed%2BSox%2BPhoto%2BDay%2B1RLTMKi7ogyl.jpg
  7. No one is giving a 37 year old starter over 25M per year
  8. Ugly as f*** these days http://www.post-gazette.com/image/2013/11/27/ca0,0,419,280/A-J-Burnett-file-1.jpg
  9. I get the feeling that this will escalate quickly I say he signs with someone within a week
  10. He'd be ideal He'd take a 1 year deal obviously which leaves room for the young guns and injury returnees to work up to the rotation in 2014 and 2015 nicely. And it leaves our trade chips (the few that we can realistically afford to part with) to address 2B. THIS IS THE ONE TO OVERPAY/OUTBID FOR
  11. Point well taken. They weren't in on Cano or Fielder or anyone like that.
  12. No no no. I really don't see AA doing it. But damn Tampa would be a force with those two moves.
  13. Suddenly paranoid that Tampa signs Burnett and trades Price for a monster bat. And, naturally, stomps all over us. Goddammit...
  14. Hurts us if he goes to Tampa or Baltimore
  15. Wilner now says that no position players were involved FWIW Regardless it didn't happen. I'm just happy that AA is trying to improve SP and 2B and hasn't made any dumb trades.
  16. There are obviously many factors but not sure how many care about the turf. (probably some) Tampa has no trouble signing (lower-mid end) free agents, with the players knowing full well they'll be playing 90 games a year on artifical turf (81 at Trop + 8-9 at RC). And they often sign for less than marklet value. Obviously factors like the winning culture and playing for Joe Maddon must play a role in that.
  17. AA is better than 90% on here give him credit for.
  18. Santos and Romero for Kinsler?!?!?!?! Done in a nanosecond. f*** me if that was the potential deal and f*** Kinsler and his no trade clause and f*** the Rangers too, LOL Upgrade at 2B, AND dump Romero's salary? Damn that would have been sweet.
  19. Rosenthal: - As for the players whom the Rangers would have received from the Jays for Kinsler, sources offer conflicting accounts. The Rangers had targeted Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion early in the offseason and later sent Kinsler to the Detroit Tigers - a team not on his no-trade list - for first baseman Prince Fielder. But the Jays would not move Encarnacion, sources said Santos was part of the Kinsler discussions, as was left-hander Ricky Romero, according to one source. The Rangers'€™ goal in such a trade was to clear the remaining $62 million on Kinsler'€™s contract to pursue other moves, that source said.
