It would be fun if we sometime (maybe in the summer) planned an all out baseball showdown with the members from the other board. Our guys against their guys. It would be a fun event and it would give those people a chance to get up from in front of their computer screens for a change and into the outdoors to get some much needed fresh-air. We could show the "baseball know-it-alls" a thing or 2 and show them how its ACTUALLY done. It would be a good lesson for those guys and perhaps they'd learn a thing or 2 about the game that they couldn't interperate through looking at stats. And it would be sorta fun to meet up with everyone. I'm planning on heading to the big smoke to take in a game or 2 this year, so maybe we can do it up?

Although I do remember feeling some definite satisfaction when metallijay finally gave me an absolute no-doubt reason to ban him. Good times.

It really sucks. That's still the first board most people will find. He makes half the posts on there and any time you mention this place he rages about ju1ced/admin. It's annoying as f*** and that place is brutal now but he keeps defending it.

This is an excellent idea. The function exists and can be used but we have not done so as of yet. We will discuss and if we go with something,like this we post a sticky.

That was one advantage of that place. If you had a mlb.com account you could go to any team's board easily and post there (usually after 24 hours from first attempt) without having to make a new account for each board you wanted to post on. U

I was only on the old board for about a year. It seemed more lawless toward the end. But yeah now ai do remember some bannings. What I remember MORE is how many insane stupid threads were started and nothing seemed to happen when you reported them.

It's not always obvious when a troll like high85 is back. He's good enough at it that can take many many posts before you even start to wonder if it's him. The IP checks are (unfortunately) not the panacea that lot of you guys think it is. (I presumed they were too until I started moderating on here).

Very good points. Any "rule" we can make is arbitrary. The main goal should be keeping this an enjoyable place to post. The best way to affect this goal, while still maintaining a modicum of fairness may be with stronger penalties for repeat offenses. This would allow us to gradually get rid of the troublemakers without having to make on the spot quick ban decisions like I did last night. For the reasons noted above we can't always tell who new accounts are made by. If Dogg makes s new account and keeps himself to clean baseball discussion we may not realize its him but that's fine. If he comes back with the same BS we should act more promptly.

Sorry dude. You just happened to be the person who said the wrong thing at the wrong time. You're a quality poster on here. It wasn't personal. At all. Just like I know your posts about mods being dumb and pussies wasn't either. Here's the thing. We skate a fine line. some people just want to let anything go. Some people want any mildly annoying poster banned. Obviously you have to work somewhere in between. We try to be tolerant. But there are times you can just feel the place getting out of control. It happened a few months ago with metallijay and twisted logic. It started feeling like that again the last few days. I will fully admit that moh you has been BIG part if that - not because he's done much truly ban worthy. More because he gets people riled up and so many people start acting crazy. Some people yelling to ban people. Others yelling we can't do that. Some of the borderline posters saying that we treat the long term regulars better and let them get away with more. Others yelling that the mods never do anything. Its a s*** show. Anyhow I drew a line last night and said that purposely disruptive posts will result in short term bans. You shook the cage. I tried to PM you but for some reason that we can't figure out your receiving PM function isn't working. You did it again. I banned you. Not because it was you. Not specifivally because you called the mods pussies (I have thicker skin than that). But because you were deliberately stirring s*** up right when we had decided we needed to crack down on it. The truth? I didn't want to ban you. I wanted it to be M Y or CHP that provoked it but I couldn't let it slide right after I had stated our intentions. Sorry bro. No hard feelings. And yeah you're more infamous now than ever.

Yep. With 3 more accounts. We can check IP's and do, but that's not perfect. People post from different parts of town. Sometimes obviously different members show up non the same IP address. Good thing with this guy is that his style is so recognizable. Like metallijay it's obvious when it's him.

Yes it was. Mods met to discuss and decided one day was adequate. Again it was just a short ban to send a message that we actually do moderate on here. As much as it kills us sometimes we try not to discriminate. Whether you a quality regular or a s*** disturber it a brand new poster the same rules apply. The only thing we will say is that repeat offenders will be given stiffer penalties or permabanned (Eg. metallijay)
