  1. Buchholz still going to his hair before every pitch, but at least he seems to have abandoned the arm.
  2. And I forgot Ellsbury also was
  3. Looks like quite a few middle end starters on the FA list next year too, although a little light on higher end (Halladay if he returns to normal, Johnson, Kuroda): Garza, possibly Floyd or Hammel, Haren, Hudson, Hughes, possibly Lincecum (his xfip is still pretty good), Marcum, Nolasco, Oswalt, Ervin Santana
  4. I really like the idea of McCann. If JPA wasn't moved, he could be used as the backup catcher and part time dh and still probably get 100+ games in the starting lineup. I dislike the idea of trading many of the names on that list, but for Kinsler / Profar level talent it would be worth it. I also think this would be a really good time to offer JJ a smaller term extension (2 years). It would give him a chance to regain value and still put himself in line for a big contract, and we'd get to keep him during this competitive window. Other guys who could be interesting are Ruiz (who should come cheaper than McCann), possibly Ellsbury or Granderson depending on the cost, Choo if he drops Boris.
  5. I believe you lose one position on the pick, so we would stay at 10 (assuming no one else below us also fails to sign the players).
  6. I don't know. I assumed they could be, since that would presumably give the teams needing the extra talent the best return.
  7. This year's draft should be interesting. Those competitive balance picks (which can be traded once) could make things very interesting if a player drops out of the first round.
  8. What the heck is that stance!
  9. BTW, I think we should permanently add a no home run option as well
  10. ahhhh. I don't see any reason to do that. Perhaps we could split the contest up into two, one pre and one post all-star break though.
  11. I think the playoffs should remain open to everyone, since the contest is. Something like pick one person from each playoff game (either team, and excluding wildcard games). No bonuses.
  12. I wonder what we're going to do tomorrow now? The pen is pretty gassed, but not a lot left to bring up. Virtually nothing available for callup if someone needs to eat innings. McGowan or Carreno could be shorter duration options. Nolin I believe can't come up yet (I have to think that's the backup plan if Morrow can't go Sunday anyhow, in which case I assume he'd be dl'd to allow it).
  13. This is going to mess up the Yahoo fantasy stats tomorrow, isn't it
  14. I wonder if the Rays would trade Zobrist? He has a 7M and 7.5M team option the next two years, which might be a bit pricey for them (especially with Price and Longoria getting raises). If they're one of the teams that were drooling over Boni in the off-season (and apparently there were a few that really liked him), perhaps there'd be some kind of fit.
  15. Miggy is absolutely on fire! Another home run in the first inning.
  16. I have no doubt in Lawrie's ability to find solid objects to run into no matter where he plays I'm not necessarily opposed to the move, but I don't think now is the time for it unless Bautista moves to 3rd (which he won't with a sore back or he'd be there tonight rather than EE).
  17. It would be Glorious if he's available AND WE TAKE HIM. In fairness though, I think Law did state that he also has a high chance of being a AAAA player as well (or something to that effect). I'd still love for us to take the chance.
  18. I'm not convinced d'Arnaud is. In fact it wouldn't surprise me at all if Gose puts up significantly more value when everything is said and done. I wasn't too pleased about losing Syndergaard.
  19. I didn't want to start a new thread about this, but is everyone ready to see EE start at third tonight?
  20. It's now reported that he's staying with the Yankees minor league team. There were 6 teams interested, but none were willing to give him a big league roster spot yet.
  21. Bautista himself said he hurt his back on a swing (or was it slide?), but not as a result of playing third. He's clearly still feeling it though (looked really sore today after sliding into third), so THAT might keep him from playing there right now.
