  1. What are you using to download the data, and where from?
  2. I've always thought Mills would be an ideal guy to try sticking in the pen rather than as a starter. Bring the fastball up to 89 or 90 along with that nasty curve and he might actually be able to provide some value.
  3. AA may in fact be waiting for something like that. If he can't sign a FA pitcher, he needs the prospects to trade for one (what I'm thinking is his line of thinking). If he can sign a FA pitcher or two, he can trade for the 2nd baseman.
  4. Quicker and easier to clean too
  5. Ah, yeah I thought that response sounded familiar!
  6. Let me guess, you tried to pry Taylor Hall away?
  7. It's surprising there hasn't been more rumors about Tanaka so far. This thing feels like it's going to drag on the full length at this point.
  8. That '97 season was insane, made even more impressive by the batting average to go along with the power.
  9. To like Tanaka? Absolutely. To like him at ~20M/year? That's a little harder. He seems to profile very closely to a Kuroda / Iwakuma type of pitcher, but with the advantage that he's only 25 and could improve past that benchmark. It's hard to see Tanaka being much less than a #3, and probably not more than a high end #2. There's no question that he's not on the Darvish tier. I really do think AA will be all over him (which doesn't mean he'll get him). We know AA wanted to trade for Iwakuma pretty badly which further bolsters that imo.
  10. potentially noteworthy for the BBDL draft
  11. I'm not sure they can hide it too much within the media division. It wouldn't include cross-promotional value, extra people buying Sportsnet packages to see the Jays, or value of naming rights, but should include everything else (I think).
  12. I'm kind of hoping the Yankees jerk around Gardner this year, and we can sign him at a reasonable price to replace Rasmus.
  13. Possibly not, but if it covered next year as one of the years there'd definitely be some value in him doing it (it would essentially be equal to 4/60). He'd be a FA again at age 31 while guaranteeing himself a nice payday until then.
  14. That's not so clear. Through Q3 this year I think they pulled in something like 50M profit in the media division which includes the Jays, but more than JUST the Jays.
  15. Rasmus would probably be more like 4/52, but that's a good point.
  16. Yeah, it would be awesome though! We'd basically have 5 high end pitchers, each with an unique repertoire.
  17. Interesting, the posting fee for Tanaka will be split up over 2 years, 13M next year and 7M in 2015.
  18. You could always award bonus cap space for signing a player who has been in your organization for at least (say) 3 years to an extension that covers FA years.

As a Canuck fan I watched Raymond play several years. I like him, but I'd be very careful about offering him too big an extension.
  20. I think it would penalize older players too much. I think you have to place some kind of age cap on it, in which case you may just as well keep it simpler and award extra cap for players under x years of age who leave due to FA.
  21. True, but I have issue with that also I think the capped amateur budget would work to solve the same things, but without rewarding tanking (at least to the same degree).
  22. No kidding. I also hate the idea of rewarding owners of teams like the Marlins.
  23. MAYBE 6/120 + posting, but that would make me extremely uncomfortable.
