  1. That's odd. It should just be an .ods file (open document format since I wasn't sure everyone had excel, and this should open in things like open office or libre office as well). I can send you the excel version though if you like. I only zipped it since the attachment feature on here doesn't accept most formats (but oddly does accept zips).
  2. I put the draft results into a spreadsheet (attached) for anyone who finds that easier.DDL Draft Results.zip

Both teams are going to have some gassed defensemen by the end of the game.

5 mins into the game and 152 combined penalty minutes between the two teams.

Lmao! 1 second into the game and there's 5 simultaneous fights in the Canucks / Flames game.
  8. It depends. It's possible that Tanaka said specifically that he wasn't interested in Toronto, in which case there's no point. I don't recall who listed the teams who bid, but unless the list was posted by his agent it's also possible that other teams bid that have been kept quiet so far.
  9. Heh, I didn't realize Capuano was a free agent. I thought his option had been picked up.
  10. I wish he threw a little harder, but I think I'd be okay with him as well.
  11. Well I didn't say top pitcher, but the Cubs aren't a contender (hence Shark or Jackson). If the Dodgers get him, they'll have 7 or 8 starters. One or two pretty much HAVE to go.
  12. Depending on who signs Tanaka, we could see a starting pitcher from that team possibly shake loose in the aftermath as well. Edwin Jackson perhaps? He's definitely not a top of the rotation guy, but his contract looks a hell of a lot better now and he's reasonably solid.
  13. Or you could split the bet among the teams most likely to win. As long as you pick fewer teams than the lowest of the odds, you probably have a pretty good chance of winning overall.
  14. Must be the Calgary Flames part!
  15. It's in the middle column on my desktop, but I agree there should be a menu item for it or something more obvious.
  16. I think the reports are that the Yankees are going all out in the IFA next year, and will take all the penalties. Might be a tough year for signing them.
  17. Quite interesting. His attempt to explain the odd numbers makes some sense, but there's a few more steps he could take with it to try to confirm his theory.
  18. Those guys are no better than the options we already have, and AAA staff should be full if not overloaded as is. There's really no reason for us to (for once). We can probably safely ditch Happ without any other additions.
  19. I wonder if the umps are allowed to look at the scoreboard displaying the replays to determine whether to check it out themselves after the 6th inning?
  20. New rule: Pitchers must face at least 3 batters or reach the end of an inning before they can be removed from the game (excluding injury). I'm not a big fan of the idea of reliever specialists (in general, not in effectiveness).
  21. That's true, it would certainly negate some of the difference.
  22. Nice article! I think one thing to consider is that not all splits are necessarily equal. What I mean by that is a player considered to be an every day player isn't likely to be pinch hit for (like Rasmus). Therefore, he faces the nasty opposite hand starters and relievers as well as the average ones and scrubs. A player who is (at least partially) platooned in their career may not face the elite guys (Price or Sale for example, or a few of the lefty specialists that completely obliterate Lind). A guy who is actively platooned probably has those splits in spite of not facing the nastiest of the guys, whereas a guy who isn't could see the numbers improve against the other hand if moving into that situation.
  23. Let's just call it npWAR (non-player WAR)
  24. I'm 99.9% sure JJ wouldn't have signed with us for 1 year at 9 mil. In fact, I'm not 100% sure he would have even accepted the QO.
