  1. Official instant replay details: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/mlb-approves-expanded-instant-replay-beginning-with-2014-season?ymd=20140116&content_id=66737912&vkey=news_mlb
  2. Welcome. This probably could have gone in the offseason roster thread. I think we have a lot of options equal to or better than Worley, so I don't think that would be a move that would make sense for us. We are lacking top of the rotation guys. We have TONS of bottom of the rotation options this year. As for Nelson Cruz, I'm not really sure it would help us a whole lot. The upgrade he'd provide over Lind or (a healthy) Melky is probably minimal at best, if at all. Our best bang for the buck would be trading for a 2nd baseman and/or signing or trading for a legit higher end starter.
  3. Fail for not including 3-d graphs! (kidding) Very interesting! I'm a little surprised that the run factor goes up for pitches still on the plate at the outside corner. Maybe include the overall umpire bias in as well vs righties. BTW, you misspelled vertical on the second graph.
  4. Didn't we also sign Diaz to a minor league deal? (at least he's right handed and could be used in a platoon)
  5. Well, they say there's no such thing as bad publicity lol
  6. It's a minor league deal, so this falls squarely in the "meh" category (unless he makes the team). He won't be a platoon partner with Goins since he's a lefty bat. At least he doesn't strike out.
  7. I think I could actually see the Yankees stay under the cap this year, then next year go after something like Hanley Ramirez, Asdrubal Cabrera, Scherzer, and Bailey.
  8. I'm not so sure. Seems the Yankees aren't convinced that he's all the hype is making him out to be. Dodgers seem to be a management call on whether or not to go after him, and with their current inflated payroll who knows if they'll open it up even further (best guess is yes, but ...). Angels are probably at their spending limit. Seattle really could be the front runners.

I think it was actually 44 minutes lol. I came in right after that (was blacked out until then), but looked like Hansen and Sestito just started wailing on two of the ducks, both of which never really even got a chance to drop their gloves. I think Kassian's misconduct came before the puck drop following that, and the refs had good and had enough by that point. I don't think I've ever seen a 7 minute 5 on 3 before though (actually was a little longer I think since the Canucks took 2 penalties during it as well)

Canucks are getting hammered, and just got issued against them a 7 minute 5 on 3
  11. At this point you probably have to go with Dermody, but with that said I could very easily see Deck really break out next year (although probably never more than a #4 or #5 guy)
  12. Could be just as much fun if Seattle "stole" Tanaka AND Cano from NYY. That should really rile them up.
  13. This is interesting: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/01/gammons-on-top-starters-shields-blue-jays-drew-polanco.html As much as it's Boras which makes it incredible unlikely, if we don't like the FA pitching prices and he's willing to play 2nd ...
  14. I don't think Kershaw's will have an impact (although I'm sure the agents will try). If Tanaka gets closer to 18M per, it's going to kill the other FA. If he gets 22M-25M, it's going to elevate them like crazy. It all depends on Tanaka.
  15. I'm not really seeing a lack of effort, just bad results. These kind of nights happen.
  16. Looks like the contract is back loaded
  17. Why do I have an image of JFaS writing an article about all this right now...
  18. I'm fairly certain Beckett will be traded if they get Tanaka.
  19. From what I understand, advertising rates in the USA are far higher than they are in Canada. Also, a condensed audience is often preferred as it's easier to target specific demographics (this is how I understand it, I'm not a marketing person). Longer term deals also may lose the network money in the short term while making them a lot at the back end, unless they're structured like the Phillies deal is. Finally, audience I believe is calculated differently. It's very hard to find specific information on this. I think it's safe to assume that Rogers is getting WAY more benefit from it than they're awarding to the Jays, but honestly as long as we're given a reasonable payroll to work with (and we now have been), I'm okay with that.
  20. Would they be eligible for both though? That part is a little unclear (remember our prospect draft will be before the MLB one since we're just starting out)
  21. What happens if someone doesn't make the cuts in time? (Just curious in case it comes up in the BBDL). Also, how are you handling things if someone in the prospect draft picks someone ineligible, then puts the next person on the clock?
