  1. I really don't understand why no team would claim him. I know he's expensive, but there's some teams (like the Yankees) that could desperately use him.
  2. The wikipedia history for him is hilarious. There's a war between several people editing the page.
  3. No idea. I'd think there's probably something in there that will end up requiring surgery. This doesn't really have the feeling of injury prone to me.
  4. He apparently is. Similar to last time, his shoulder isn't really healing. I think Sportsnet had an article about it this morning.
  5. It looked like he went out to ask why he wasn't asking for help on the check swing to me. Who knows what he actually said though. Ump really should have given some rope there.
  6. He's good defensively, and over the last two years has hit lefties decently (albeit a rather sss). I have to assume the plan is to platoon him and Goins at 2nd. Pennington also presumably gives us some speed off the bench. I'm not hugely in favor of picking him up, but I don't think it's as bad as people seem to think.
  7. Generally taxing the bullpen pays off in some form, but not necessarily immediately.
  8. This could probably get people in trouble as well. I suggest we delete the DDL thread to make sure (j/k) This is a perfect example of why we try to insist that people post trades in the proboards thread though, just in case, so that we still have a record of them.
  9. Boy, this is going to be a really interesting call. It has to either be a home run or an out.
  10. Martin grabbing at the back of his leg, which has been bothering him for a while. I kind of wonder if after these two series with the Yankees, we shouldn't just DL him and get it fixed for (hopefully) the playoffs.
  11. What did O2 do this time? I never thought I'd see JFaS get pissed off and start spamming.
  12. Sportsnet will broadcast them, so the cast likely wouldn't change (maybe some minor additions to join Zaun and Campbell?). Sportsnet has Canadian distribution rights which include the all-star game, home run derby, and all postseason games.
  13. His SIERA is 2.47 as a reliever. His SwStr is 6.5% (yes, that includes this year)
  14. It is, but it's about 40 innings for Sanchez now. It's certainly worth watching, just not relying on projection wise.
  15. Sanchez has some fascinating numbers as a reliever. Some of it is almost certainly luck, but over the last two years among pitchers with at least 20 relief innings, he's first in average against, whip, second in ERA, and has the lowest percentage of hard hit balls against him.
  16. He was starting to show legit stuff in the rotation before he went down (his last 4 games he had xFIP of 3.73, 3.22, 4.34, and 3.58). His only real issue has been the walks. If he can get those under control, he could be very good, very quickly. It's nice to see that he could fall back on being a very high end reliever if he fails in the rotation though.
  17. Looks like the NHL has partnered with MLBAM to provide stats, streaming video, and web services for hockey. It'll be interesting to see what data we'll get access to.
  18. There's no reason NOT to claim Shields, unless management has absolutely refused to give AA any more payroll (and with the excitement Price has generated, I have to think they'd give in). If we don't have the payroll space after this year, then we should be able to trade him somewhere. It would be a fantastic 1-2 punch between Shields and Price in the playoffs. On the down side, Shields hasn't pitched very well in Fenway or Yankee stadium in his career, and he hasn't been fantastic in RC either.
  19. I have to think Seattle would have traded Iwakuma if they thought he wouldn't resign with them. I'd love to see him here though.
  20. Yeah that's basically as close as you can get to saying you hit them on purpose, without directly saying it.
  21. Now THIS is good baseball! And good on Sanchez.
  22. I'm usually very much against the idea of retaliation or intentionally hitting people, but this might be a case where it's needed.
  23. Starting Price tomorrow means he faces the Yankees in both of our upcoming series.
  24. Terrible move to DFA Valencia. He's exactly the kind of bench player good teams have.
