  1. That's fine and all, but who says all things are equal?
  2. The league should really put a portion of the MLBTV revenue into a fund for creating new ballparks.
  3. Yeah, Cargo will probably still be fairly expensive though, even if he shouldn't be. I suspect we'd get similar production from dirt cheap options like Saunders or Either.
  4. I think Cargo is the kind of player we need to avoid right now.
  5. I think it's more that teams aren't using up all the shot clock every possession, which also prevents the defense from setting up as easily. Teams are looking to make things happen early.
  6. I could use a high end outfielder, but other than that I'm pretty happy with how my team is looking in this league.
  7. Lol, Phoenix put up 65 points at the half against Houston ... and are down 25.
  8. He's able to hold position near the rim, and is almost impossible to post up against. None of the other bigs can really do that. Poertl is great at rebounding because of his positioning, and Babe at blocking, but neither really have the physical presence. JV is NOT good against a really mobile big though. Regarding Ibaka, I have to think we wouldn't have signed him if we had known how good the young players were going to be. He also gives us that inside, more traditional scoring threat. I think he's under-utilized in that role.
  9. Yeah, there's no way in hell they want to stay under in the future, just reset it. They're eyeing that ridiculous FA class next year.
  10. I actually kind of like having JV. He brings another dimension none of the other bigs do. It's kind of a shame we don't utilize him more.
  11. That was one hell of a selection.
  12. I pity the team that gives him THAT
  13. Hasn't Jones complained about being called things in every park he's played in (including his own)?
  14. Bichette will obviously depend on how his swing handles the higher levels. If he gets exploited a bit, I think Dozier could be a decent ceiling comp (maybe with closer to 30 home runs though). If he doesn't get exploited, I think Cano could be a good ceiling. I really don't see him stealing a lot of bases in the majors. I think a good ceiling for Alford might be McCutchen. Vlad is maybe a little harder. Pujols or Miggy may not actually be unreasonable ceilings, although I think it's tough to suggest that for any player. Maybe Manny Ramirez, if Vlad was to play in the OF for a bit.
  15. Interesting, I wonder why?
  16. So would I, but I think Panik is more realistic. Same level of control, same approximate value. Panik is a little safer and better fit for us offensively, and Pillar would help them more in that big field. Move Travis to LF and try to keep him healthier if he isn't always having to land on his knee, etc.
  17. Pillar for Panik would be interesting.
  18. In one you warm the arm slower, one you have to make a throw at 100% while cold. For a pitcher who throws a lot, it takes some time to loosen up the arm. It's less of a problem for a normal outfielder.
  19. He'd be interesting, but I don't think they'd want to move him.
  20. Yeah, he tried to shoot it before he caught it. Great play by VanVleet to get the offensive foul call though!
  21. I don't think that's true. We made a very good offer to Edwin to keep him, we took on full contracts to get guys like Liriano, and let's not discuss Morales. The team is simply in a transition period, so long term deals probably don't make a lot of sense atm. Shorter term deals often involve value type signings.
  22. There must be some money being eaten ... like a LOT of money being eaten.
  23. I think I read somewhere that Otani's favorite player is Darvish. If true, maybe we can get him if we also sign Darvish
  24. The part about the Cubs creating the fictional DVD is really interesting. Major props for creativity.
