  1. I think there was Colon, Cashner, and Morton too.
  2. Maybe not 10+, but there's probably 5 or 6 (compared to 0 this year).
  3. Can we just wave the white flag?
  4. You have to add the 39.6% federal tax to the Florida 6%. So 45.6% compared to the 53 or whatever for us. Add to that the fact that they only pay that rate for half their games, and you're basically looking at a 4% difference.
  5. Damn the lack of video tags in the main forums!
  6. Let's get both of them and solve all the problems
  7. Yeah, unless it's in the last 2 minutes of the game or something, just go with the call on the floor. If more is warranted, the league can hand out a fine or something after the game.
  8. I don't know, but I made that suggestion before too. He'd be a good fit imo.
  9. I like that deal for you. Zunino can be frustrating, but man are his hot streaks fun!
  10. I still think it'll be either Yankees, Dodgers, or Mariners. An outside chance of Giants, Angels, or us, for various reasons. I don't think he fits real well with either Texas team (from his point of view).
  11. I don't think that's fair. Copollela did something illegal that allowed him to sign guys he otherwise wouldn't have gotten (supposedly), and other teams might have. Having them stripped is absolutely the right move. If other teams do it, they should be punished too. The hacking is a completely separate kind of issue. I don't think it was dealt with correctly, and you could argue there should have been legal action taken, but it's apples to oranges.
  12. I suspect whichever team with the highest available pool that misses out on Ohtani will get him (which might be the Yankees) I don't think it's worth his while to wait for July, as one or two teams have good pools still available, and it would cost him a year of development.
  13. Brugman was just DFA'd, and could be an interesting guy too. Showed poorly last year with the glove, but scouting reports on his defense seem to suggest he should be decent with the ability to play all outfield positions. Left handed batter.
  14. Yeah, but he also takes a 40 man spot unnecessarily, unless we just try to slip him through. I just feel like the 40 man spot is more valuable to us than he is.
  15. Apparently Appel has been DFA'd. I'd love to have us get him to fill that long man / spot starter role. Maybe we can even sort him out, who knows?
  16. I'd rather see if we could sign Alcides for a few million if we want to go that route. Or Gurriel, or Urena. No sense clogging up the 40 man further by adding a third one of those guys, and one with no upside to boot.
  17. Short answer: no. Long answer: no. Emergency call up answer: no.
  18. If someone can get him at 5/125 or less, it'll (probably) be manageable.
  19. I'm all for that, but not anywhere close to 7/210.
  20. I can't find a way to free up the space
  21. That would be awesome. He's such a perfect fit.
  22. Yeah, forgot about the Angels. I don't think either Texas team is too likely, as they're fairly clogged up right now in terms of bats.
  23. It's hard to know exactly what his priorities are. He may favor a team like Oakland that could give him significantly more rope on the hitting end of things, which would give him a chance to really earn big later (plus it would help his pitching numbers heading to FA). As a guess, I would think SF, LA, SEA, and NY are probably ahead of us. We're likely in the next tier of 5 or so teams.
  24. Do you have proof we're behind? The bottom line is, I don't think anyone in the public has any clue where any teams stand. We could be the preferred destination for Ohtani, or we could be dead last. If I had to guess, I'd think we'd probably be in the upper third somewhere. We have the payroll to support a winner (and a nice future salary for him). We have a culture pretty supportive of people from other countries, and a decently sized Japanese community. We have a forward thinking front office investing in things like the high performance department, and soon new spring training facilities. We have the capability of letting him DH. On the negative side, he probably grew up watching west coast teams and likely dreamed of playing for one of them. The time difference would also be better for him on the west coast, which could help with sponsorship deals in Japan. Our stadium would also almost certainly be a negative.
