  1. Yikes, this is an ugly first quarter. 73.7% shooting percentage for Memphis ...
  2. Lots of time left in the week
  3. Dunno, but I really like that deal for Detroit. I would have liked to see him sign here for that (or have traded for him).
  4. Oops, yeah. Move along people, nothing to see here.
  5. Gohara seems interesting too, although without as much hype. Strikeout ability, 21 years old, upper 90s fastball, lefty.
  6. He's known he was going to be posted for some time, and known he was coming over here for a few years now likely. It seems like if it was me, I'd already have visited a few of the cities. I wouldn't want to make a snap decision on a few presentations, possibly not even seeing the actual city first in person.
  7. That's actually not a half bad idea lol. They could use it as a demonstration bed for all kinds of new technology and ideas. Someone spread a rumor that Apple's gonna buy them, and Google will do it by this time tomorrow. They could even convert the hotel into a data center.
  8. Rogers needs to leverage what they have with the Jays better. Give people an experience no one else is digitally, rather than just broadcast. Have a VR feed, add user-selectable camera angles, add some cameras to the batting cage and let people watch BP, spike Atkin's drink and have him drunk call other GMs, that sort of thing. Heck, have some kind of in-game competition with the fans and broadcast it after the game as a reality show. I feel like they're doing a terrible job of utilizing the assets they have in general. On the other side of things, they could host things like a programming competition to have people create new Blue Jays inspired apps. Machine learning competitions could probably help them reduce stadium costs and improve the fan experience, all at ultra low cost. The same things would apply to the NHL for them too.
  9. I think I read before that they were considering selling it to an affiliated entity or something, which would take it off Rogers books while allowing them to invest more in the team. I hope it's not sold to an outside interest though, because Rogers offers us really great ownership stability.
  10. Those guys were also a lot more experienced when they came over, and weren't coming off a mostly lost season at age 22. It's certainly possible Ohtani dominates, but no one should be projecting that off the bat.
  11. I have a feeling people are a little too optimistic on Ohtani (for next year at least). I'd suspect he'll be a lot closer to 2 WAR pitching and 0 WAR with the bat. I think he has the capability to progress towards the 3-4 WAR range, plus 1 with the bat though.
  12. I hope he got a good raise. He's probably been the hardest working member of the organization over the past five years.
  13. True, but you don't make the restaurant print out a special menu just for you in doing so. Maybe you ask the waiter/waitress what the special of the day is or something.
  14. Yeah, if he already knew beforehand that he wasn't going to go to certain cities no matter what they showed him, he should have just told them that. I wouldn't blame a few front offices for being a little upset at being strung along, the Yankees in particular. That said, maybe there were some misunderstandings between himself and his agents or something.
  15. Didn't they state somewhere that the behavior in question wasn't sexual in nature?
  16. At least this is over now for most teams. Hopefully the FA and trade markets will now start heating up and getting interesting.
  17. Did you see the like and retweet counts (for the ones that were shown)? You could probably find stuff like that for anything that happens anywhere in the world at those levels.
  18. He seems to want to forge his own path without being compared to other Japanese players. I have to think that will hurt the Mariners chances (Ichiro), even though they've made it to the next round.
  19. Sounds like he wants a smaller market west coast team. At least that hopefully means we won't see him in the ALE.
  20. I would liken it to the SJW stuff nowadays. They tend to examine every little thing through the microscope trying to find something to be offended about. That reminds me of Stroman, looking at everything around him as somehow being directed against him. Lawrie is just the typical high school jock type that everyone remembers (or perhaps was). Often fun to be around, an open book, but just not politically correct. At all. The second is a lot easier to tolerate and be around imo, because they don't try to push everyone away.
  21. I'm not sure what the point of having refs is if they don't call anything. Raps are getting murdered every possession.
  22. Softening us up for a Donaldson trade?
  23. Holy crap, and we basically paid nothing to get him too!
  24. Seems unlikely. The salary was never going to be prohibitive.
