  1. They may also have gotten two relievers and filler for the minors. If they were being offered a Clint Frazier type, etc, they probably should have gone with quality over quantity. I'm glad they didn't, but still.
  2. Apparently the Pirates are connoisseurs of crap. Ours isn't ripe enough.
  3. I know our FO doesn't want to be giving up assets for guys without control, but Cutch for almost nothing would have looked real nice in our outfield next year. the QO would probably have been worth more than what they gave up.
  4. Yeah, not used to seeing that. It was pretty much over anyway though.
  5. Seriously refs? You see a guy laying on the floor injured and you allow the other team to inbound the ball??? I mean, the calls have been one-sided as it is, but how much more blatant can you get?
  6. Ozuna on the trade talks: https://www.mlb.com/news/cardinals-fans-greet-outfielder-marcell-ozuna/c-264702230
  7. I don't have a favorite team, so I just enjoyed the game and exciting finish.
  8. Holy s***!
  9. There's apparently some talk that Darvish's asking price may have dropped considerably, and could be now looking in the 5/90 range (seems doubtful, but who knows). If true, I'd hope we're in the mix.
  10. For ~500k, probably a pretty good move for them.
  11. Wow, at least THAT blown call is going to appear in the officiating report.
  12. Man, you can't be missing free throws at this point in the game.
  13. Whether we can somehow manage to win this game or not, I think we made a statement. Given that we were down by 27, that's saying something.
  14. Well, it'll be interesting to see what adjustments are made in the second half.
  15. Yeah, they're shredding us. Gotta get the first unit back out there.
  16. This game might be incredibly high scoring. Neither team seems interested in playing defense.
  17. I doubt they could get insurance on it. He basically just got the contract, so any insurer would probably tell them to take a hike. They're just hoping he comes back in time to trade at the deadline. A QA is possible too, but that's a lot to pay for that.
  18. WTF, seriously Miami??? Ah, re-read it. Must be a typo.
  19. Leone 1.085 (1.2 proj) and Pillar 3.25 (4.0 proj)
  20. You DO realize we'd control Yelich for the next five years at a team friendly rate, right? I mean, you aren't giving up much in terms of difference of control, and getting a guy that produced 4.5 WAR in three of the last four years. The chances of Bo doing that are slim, which isn't to say he's not an exciting and valuable guy to have. Trading him for a guy with a year or two left on the contract would be entirely different, but Yelich has five.
  21. I'm not sure about that in team sports. Solo ones like golf and tennis, obviously.
  22. Yelich is the one kind of guy we WOULD potentially consider moving one of those guys for. I don't think we'll do it though.
  23. In many ways that's true everywhere though. You get paid more as you gain seniority. It really just models any other business sector. Senior MLB players are basically the upper management and CEOs, rookies are the entry level guys, and MiLB players are the interns.
