  1. He looks gassed. I think they'll just take him out now. Really fun to watch though!
  2. I don't know how an NBA ref misses something that blatant. FVV is awesome! 3 more and he ties the record!
  3. The owners didn't sit on their asses this winter because of expanded playoffs last year. I highly doubt the MLBPA actually believes what they're spewing, they just want to keep every shred of leverage they have going into the negotiations next winter. I kinda wish the MLB and MLBPA would just shut down the game this year, work it out, and come back next year with a long-term agreement so we don't have to worry about this s*** for another 10 years. This year is going to be a mess anyway.
  4. I'm pretty confident in the Angels ability to screw it up even if they do get Bauer.
  5. Honestly, the hall of fame should probably go away soon anyway. Create something with the latest tech that allows people to celebrate baseball as a whole. See great plays from the perspective of the player making them, or be on-field at the biggest moments of the sport. With the latest tech, we aren't far away from being able to accomplish it. Interactive displays could show any player desired, their biggest moments, etc.
  6. Each state has different rules for fans. Clearly whatever talks MLB has had with the relevant authorities suggest to them that a month delay is going to be worth enough to them to be paying the players the full amount for less games. The only way this would be the case is if at least some fans are going to be in the stands who otherwise wouldn't be.
  7. Why? The players can just agree to the expanded playoffs for this season only.
  8. Man, the broadcast quality in this Jazz/Nuggets game is horrible. It looks like it was filmed 20 years ago.
  9. Not really. They want to play as many games as possible in front of fans. If they believe that extra month will allow them to play another 30 games per team with people in the stands, then it makes complete sense. I don't think this has anything to do with issues regarding the players, who will all almost certainly be vaccinated by then.
  10. I think the last line Ehjays posted explains that perfectly. They lose leverage in the CBA negotiations next year. Somewhere along the line, both sides have become more consumed with their positions than with the game.
  11. For fantasy, I would definitely take Austin over Adley.
  12. With management saying we were done the heavy lifting, maybe 5%?
  13. They don't, and shouldn't. There's no model for how weight loss will affect batting performance, let alone defense.
  14. Maybe the 50M applies to 2023 and later? If he opts out, it would go poof automatically.
  15. I think the names are just Rosenthal guessing.
  16. They're basically rebuilding. Story is a FA after the season, Blackmon can opt out after the season, Arenado can opt out after the season. It makes sense. There's a pretty good chance those guys do opt out. The return and the 50M is the big question.
  17. There has to be a very significant prospect or package going back the other way. Arenado can opt out after the season, and makes 35M per year.
  18. I like Teoscar's bat, but the man should not see the outfield grass. He continually misplays balls, throws to the wrong bases, etc. IMO we should be cashing in on his season last year. Someone should be willing to give us a comparable talent SP for him.
  19. This is an interesting site: https://datagolf.com/live-predictive-model https://datagolf.com/live-strokes-gained
  20. English is absolutely killing my DFS lineup
  21. We'll probably need the extra starters anyway. I think it's highly likely there will be a bunch of postponed games or even series early in the season, and that means a lot of double headers late. This is a good year to have depth imo.
  22. He's a perfectly good #4 or #5 starter with the upside to be more. I like it. Hopefully we'll see that 37.8% home run rate drop down to where it should be.
  23. He's a free agent after the season, so I can't see it being too painful. It'll probably be one or two guys on the 40 man plus someone else. Fisher and SRF perhaps.
  24. It's a decent park for doubles hitters, which La Stella is. It actually seems like an okay fit.
  25. I have a feeling we probably had the highest offer too (dunno after any tax difference), but he really wanted to remain in Houston. He probably told them he was going to sign with us unless they came close, and they did. It would explain at least some people in the front office clearly believing they had signed him.
