If players can't yell, then there's no discussion on this.  It was a borderline pitch at best and would have been a risky challenge in the 2nd inning with your ace on the hill.  If I recall correctly, Cease even missed his spot and Kirk was reaching for it a bit.  He's not going to challenge that one.

As ABS goes I wouldn't call it borderline.  Clearly part of the ball is in the strike zone.  

That's with the benefit of the box on TV obviously.  In terms of leverage almost certainly the highest leverage abs situation of the game, and one of the highest if not the highest of the season.  Literally ends the inning and takes a run off the board, and saves the Ace a few pitches. 

Other than a 3-2 count bases load, no other scenario takes a run off the board and ends an inning.  I think this is where the arm chair griping comes in.  Fans see highest leverage, maybe of the year.   We could be wrong, but have Jays taken of the run off the board via ABS removing a bases loaded walk on 3-2?

The discussion is on pre-game prep of rules, leverage, working with pitch machines. 

Scanning the game thread last night that seemed to be what most fans were complaining about.  Like are the Jays even prepped on this? 

Of course they are.  So I think the more subtle issue is whether other teams are ahead of Jays here and prepping better.  Not like the Jays and coaching staff are complete morons and not prepped at all.

You have to factor in that he's in the process of "popping" and moving when catching that ball and trying to throw someone out.  That's going to hinder his ability to determine if it's close enough to challenge or not.  That ball is right on the edge - it's not a blatant strike.

If he just puts that ball is his back pocket, it's a 1-2 count with the top strikeout starter in baseball on the mound.  Even with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he probably gets out of that inning with 0 runs scored like 90%+ of the time.

And for all we know - Schneider might have tightened his challenge leash lately, seeing as he's been pretty bad at it.  Maybe they have been prepping them more and reminding Kirk that he's f*cking horrendous as challenging?  As if Kirk didn't notice that already?  Kirk's kid probably noticed he never gets challenges right.  Maybe he's influencing him!

After that entire plays ends, with the disappointment that Kaz can't catch a 14 MPH lop ball - I don't think it's reasonable for Kirk to immediately challenge the strike call, nor is it any managers fault for not having drilled that mentality into him.

The thread title has been changed.  Schneider now needs to be fired September 21st. 

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.  Two double plays today?  Keys no where to be seen. 

Sean Keys should have stayed up when he was first called up playing 2/3 of the time with extreme load management for Springer and Guerrero.  

For mishandling Guerrero, not moving him down in the lineup.  Not load managing him.  Unable to reach him in any sense Schneider's firing date has now been moved to September 21st.  Shapiro and Atkins need to mention, Schneider is a great guy but unable to reach the 500 million dollar man, so the firing had to occur.

Title changed again after the Okamoto double play.  Now Schneider needs to be fired September 20th.

Using Lorenzen when entire bullpen available?

If shut out by Oakland firing should be September 9th after the game.

Seems to be what they do. Call up player from minor league who’s tearing the ass out of the ball, sit him for a week to get cold, play him a game, where naturally plays like s***, demote. Keys, Schneider ,come to mind

Moved to September 9th on account of being shut out by the Oakland As in Sacremonto band box. 

Vlad is broken.  can hit it 110 on the ground, but only 95 in the air.  Need a manager that load manages Vlad until the exit velocity lanuch combo is fixed.

I am now saying he needs to be fired on September 8th, which is yesterday.  This is because he let Ernie Clement hit instead of Keys in the 9th.  

Fire him yesterday so the new manager will at least pinch hit Keys for Clement in todays game.
