Considering this team is in sell mode and came out of the deadline arguably better is an achievement. Yeah, this season sucks, but not a bad silver lining.

New Blue Jays' Josh Smith, Dameury Pena, Brett Bateman, and Ty Southisene have a combined total of 8 home runs.

Including Vladdy, they have a combined total of 15 home runs.

That's the same number of home runs Klein has allowed,.... the pitcher he received for Jeff Hoffman.

Yeah if Springer wasn't interested in waiving his no trade rights and nobody was willing to make an acceptable offer the smart play is hanging onto him.

6 teams make the playoffs and you play within the division less so would gradually change here tbh

He only wanted to go one place. And the Jays weren't going to gift him to the Red Sox. We all saw what happened with Steve Pearce.

Who cares though?? Its not like we are worried about competing this season. Getting some kind of prospect back and freeing up a lineup spot would have been preferable.

Maybe the Redsox decided they traded too many prospects today

Im shocked a playoff team wouldnt want Springer on their team considering how hot hes been and his track record of being a big game player.  A lot of teams screwed up imo. 

Although the 2 teams that he would probably like to go to are Houston and Boston, both of which dont need a DH.  Think we also screwed up a bit by not playing him in the OF more to show hes more than a DH.

Well, I guess I'd think of the trades like this:

Taillon + cash for cash -> Don't like it. Unless the Cubs are eating most of the contract, which is unlikely, this seems like a terrible idea for a team trying to get under the 2nd penalty tier.

Gausman for Southisene and Bateman. -> Don't really like it. Bateman is at least mildly interesting and can probably be brought straight up if they wish. I think I'd rather they just hand the job to Clase for the rest of the year and see what happens (as soon as he returns).

Soriano for Nimmala+ -> Really like it. Hate losing Nimmala, but I think this was a perfect move for this year and beyond.

Josh Smith and Josh Stephan for Adam Macko -> After thinking about this one some more, I think I like it. Smith would be just about a perfect utility player who will probably get into a good portion of the games as a defensive replacement. Could be really valuable next year. Stephan is probably equivalent to Macko.

Varsho for Arrighetti -> I think I like it. Arrighetti could be a guy on the verge of being unlocked. He's certainly shown some flashes of it. Seems like a smart return. It would be nice to see his velocity get back up to where it was in 2024.

Hoffman for Hill, Klein, Pena -> Unsure. If they can get Dasan Hill in the strike zone it could be brilliant. Klein seems like rotation protection for next year. Pena is the obligatory slap hitting infielder, although he doesn't even seem great at that.

With the trades today, I don't think the Jays have thrown in the towel on the season so I'm not surprised they held onto Springer. He's been the hottest hitter the last month and they need someone to spark this offense because the pitching is more than good enough to put a solid late season run together. Especially since they kept Scherzer and Bieber who have had tough years obviously, but are more than capable of putting it all together for the last two months.

I am surprised they weakened the bullpen by trading Hoffman, but Miles is now in the pen and Little has looked better recently.

Rutschman is a great addition for Boston. I think they'll extend him and finally have that C spot filled for the medium-long term.

I would like to see them extend Bieber again at a discounted price.  maybe get that done before FA
