They have zero excuses for choosing to not top this offer. They simply chose to be cheap/wimpy as they always do. What are they even hoarding these prospects for? This notion that none of these teams can even contend with the Dodgers so why even try is moronic. The 2025 Jays had half the talent on paper and SHOULD have beaten them.

This was a missed opportunity by the Brewers. Who gives a s*** if Skubal won't re-sign long term? At some point you need to push some of your chips in and play for the win. Given their player development system, the loss of prospects is a non-issue.

For team like the Brewers, Guardians or Rays, they are just happy if can play in playoff and make extra money without the need to spend more cash to improve the team. The teams who really compete for the WS, are the sames we are used, Dodgers, NYK, Cubs, Braves, Red Sox, Phillies, Jays, Mariners, Rangers, Mets and Astros

Atkins only have bag of garbages to trade ( Bieber, Springer, Little, Corbin) So he won't get much for that. I won't be surprised if he wan't keep Hoffman, and try sign Gausman and Varsho, instead of trading them.

Meh...you can only roster 40.  Plenty of very good players in the league.  If teams dont have the business acumen to compete they should get out of the game.

Salary cap is a good idea as long as high salary floor exists as well. Forcing those penny pitchers to actually compete would be the best thing for Baseball.

Even the Yankees, Mets, Rangers, Jays, Cubs and Phillies wont spend half what the Dodgers spend. Remember in the NHL when Colorado, Detroit, NJ, Dallas was the biggest spenders, so every season, we already know who will end up win the Stanley cup. Since NHL have a salary cap,things are different. Same with the NBA and NFL, salary cap make every teams have = chances to win.

Whatever problems MLB has, the NBA and NHL are much worse to follow as a fan. I hate the transaction discourse in those leagues.

Can you elaborate?  You mean the # of moves? Or how they have to match salaries?

You could even make it a 300M cap, but don't count salaries under 2M towards it or something. That gives teams a little bit of flexibility in the event of injuries.

A hard cap is fine if it's generous enough. The NBA and NHL caps are probably too low.
