The 2026 Trade Deadline will fall on Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. ET.

Prior to the most recent CBA, the Trade Deadline almost always fell on July 31 at 4 p.m. ET.

2019 rule change
Prior to 2019, July 31 was referred to as the non-waiver Trade Deadline, and players could be traded after that date if they first cleared revocable trade waivers.

The player's original club had three options when a waiver claim was placed: It could either work out a standard trade with the claiming club (the two sides had 48 hours to agree to a deal), allow the player -- and all money remaining on his contract -- to go to the claiming club with no return or pull the player back off waivers. A player who was pulled back off waivers could be placed on trade waivers a second time, but at that point the waiver request became irrevocable. If a player passed through waivers unclaimed, he could then be traded to any club, free of restriction (though all 40-man-roster players in the trade had to clear waivers before being dealt).

Although trades could be completed after Aug. 31 under the old rules, the last day in August was sometimes colloquially referred to as the "waiver Trade Deadline," as players acquired after that date were ineligible to be added to the postseason roster by their new teams.

As of 2019, there's only one Trade Deadline. Players may still be placed and claimed on outright waivers, but trades will no longer be permitted after that date. With regards to newly acquired players, the Aug. 31 postseason roster deadline remains in effect.

Orioles get Jake Rogers

I honestly thought that the O's might trade Rutschman this year after signing Basallo long term last year.  Seems like they have lost faith in Rutschman.  He's kind of made of glass anyways.

Would they Joe Mauer him and move him to 1B?

I just found out the deadline isn’t tomorrow, but next week.

Sigh

Also why have there been like 0 trades so far. Nothing remotely interesting yet

A guy I want is Bergolla from the white Sox, absolute contact machine and a plus shortstop. Just seems like someone who could be a 2/2.5 win player pretty easily.

I support this idea.

Not a lot of sellers

The teams that will be selling have no reason to move quickly because they'll have so much leverage

Jays need to sell, but can also be buyer for next season too. Like selling the Varsho, Hoffman, Bieber, Gimenez, Jesus, Schneider, Lukes, Scherzer, Gausman, and try to get a good pitcher like Peralta and a player like Tatis Jr.

Where you see him playing? Because we have two good shortstop prospects

So is Gausman going to be traded today or are they actually going to start him tomorrow? The latter seems unnecessarily risky 48 hours before the deadline.

Short and then he could play basically anywhere on the infield I’d guess.

I'd suggest you don't get worried about this with prospects.  Especially shortstops, as they have as much ability as anyone to move positions.  Reports do suggest Nimmala is a legit SS, but Parker is likely moving to 3rd at some point.

Bergolla could also settle in as an affordable, cost controlled utility infielder (who on average get 400-450 PA's a year anyway).

Guaranteed he makes the start...

All risk and no upside if it happens, but it’s the 2026 Blue Jays, so I’m sure it will work out fine in the end.

Casey Mize scratched from his start today

He'll be a nice pickup for someone

I was thinking he might be a good guy to target as a FA this offseason.  He hasn't really had that breakout season yet, but has pitched well the past couple of years.

But the Stuff+ is dropping (89 on the year), so I'm not so sure he's a great target.  But I do expect he'll be moved at the deadline and might fetch something useful.

probably one of those guys that Stuff+ just does not really understand

95 career, even had an 89 back in 2022

Any thoughts on what he'll get as a FA this offseason?  3 years, $50M?

Decent target especially if he's traded and there's no draft pick loss for signing him. (Tigers would def qualify him if he stayed)

Comps?

Valdez

Severino

Eovaldi

Pivetta

King

Yes to some of them

Ranger Suarez as well

I would guess at least $25M AAV over 4 years but he could reasonably get 5 years. Depends on the market, of course. Is it a strong FA class? I guess it is.
