I assume most everyone is confident the Jays will get back to .500. When do you think they'll accomplish this? I say mid-June. They get the Orioles twice, but the Braves in between.

Heineman kind of ruins it, but decent looking lineup against righties. The lefty facing lineup remains god awful as long as Sosa exists, but at least Lukes can't really be any worse against them.

Everyone rejoice that Vlad is back.

I know 2 missed games isn't good enough for the keyboard warriors who were questioning his manhood and toughness, but until you have taken a 95 mph fastball square on the funny bone, it is probably best not to judge how quickly someone should bounce back from that.

But alas, the keyboard warriors (you know who you are) are the toughest people on the planet, and all of us, including professional athletes, should strive to reach your lofty heights.

Real men would just spit some tobacco juice on their elbow so who cares if you can't feel your fingers. You just put some extra pine tar on the bat so the good fingers get a little more grip to make up for it.

With Lukes and Guerrero back in, I really can't wait to see some reinforcements come in June.  Garcia, Barger, Bieber, Kirk, Scherzer.  Be nice to have a more complete team for the 2nd half.

Hopefully the team doesn't continue with the constant shuffling of players on and off of the injured list.

Is Max really a reinforcement? I think he needs to retire.

If he can recover the stuff he displayed in his first start of the season before the elbow tendinitis flared up he's absolutely a reinforcement. The Blue Jays are reinforcing the old adage about how beggars can't be choosers and anyone that can even log some innings out of the rotation is worth a look. The guy is being paid whether he's pitching or not and there's little to no harm in allowing him to build up to find out what's left in the tank.

Always a bummer to see Heineman back in there.

Valenzuela is absolutely mogging him. BV has a 112 wRC+, plus defense, and somehow a positive BsR too.

1.1 fWAR in 105 PA is crazy.

What a find. Spencer Miles and BV, Atkins pulled these chips out of nowhere. Pinango too.

Valenzuela has been an impact player on both sides of the ball since dropping the leg kick at the plate. I'm really hoping that Heineman is sent packing once Kirk is ready to return as Kirk and Valenzuela would make for a very potent 1A/1B catching tandem.

+ if BV is going to be something close to a 100 wRC+ hitter they could even get him 1B reps

backup 1B is actually a problem on the roster right now. they appear to not want to slide Okamoto over there, ever, for some reason.

I think that would be tough. They're going to want Valenzuela getting regular reps, and he probably catches 2 games a week behind  Kirk.

Ross traded a half season of Kikuchi for Bloss, Will Wagner and Loperfido.

He turned around and traded Wagner for Valenzuela and Loperfido for Jesus Sanchez.

Ross was deadlinemaxxing to the extreme on that one.

I think Kirk is going to be very carefully eased back into game action coming off of a broken thumb.

I think the lack of time for Okamoto at first base is more of a knockoff effect of the team lacking in middle infield options. This largely forces Clement to second base and that largely staples Okamoto to third base as he and Clement are the only real options on the club to man the position presently.

I doubt it. It would be different if it was an arm or leg injury.

We shall see once he's activated.

Not too sure what to make of that. Where is that "This is not the reliever you're looking for" meme when you need it?

He's been decent for detroit. I think we had him at some point in his career.

I would expect another long man out of the pen?

Okamoto

32% K rate and rising

OBP < 300

I like the homers but hoping he can cut back on the strikeouts.  It has taken a HUGE jump since coming from Japan
