John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Got the win but that was some god-awful pitch calling for Varland. Dude can throw 100mph fastballs yet they had him throwing his 3rd and 4th best pitches the entire inning. bronson44 and gruber9292 2

His fastball can be hunted and hammered when he throws it too much We saw at all of last season Orgfiller and Olerud363.354 2

I know Judge's was on that 99 mph fastball in for the most legendary clutch homerun of all time, can't remember what pitch Polanco, Jazz and Raleigh's pitch. * Springer unchanged that game 7

Not that I am any kind of expert on this but seems like he isn't getting quite as much chase as last year, so getting behind in some counts, but is doing a good job hitting the edges of the strike zone. Might be a similar guy to Gausman, where it's a constant battle to make sure there are no tells between fastball and splitter.
