Yea that's the logical choice, I guess they'll use him as a starter? Yariel needs cleaning innings, he walks a s*** ton.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Barger to the IL with elbow inflammation. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Pinango up. Yes. Good. Softens the Barger blow. Lauer DFA'd LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Yariel up. Fine. Stangstag, Omar and Spanky__99 1 2

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Really feel for the Lauer Fanboys....seems like it was only yesterday that they were certain that a DFA wasn't possible. Now their boy is in DFA limbo, waiting to sign with the Colorado Rockies. RA Whiffleball, Stangstag, Rynodb1 and 2 others 5

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted May 11 Posted May 11 I'm going to assume Barger blew out his elbow after that 101 mph throw. Yariel has been coming out of the pen, I guess maybe they try to stretch Miles out and Yariel takes his spot in the pen until Garcia is ready?

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 11 Posted May 11 I read all of this on Twitter. Trust me. Barger's injury doesn't sound too bad. No bone chips, no ligament damage. Lauer Hour is over and the team is considering Miles, Dallas, Van Eyk, and outside options for the 5th starter role. Scherzer also got a cortisone shot in his thumb. Lukes will go on a rehab stint soon. Yimi Garcia was extra sore after his last rehab outing and will take a couple days off. Hoping he can throw in a game later this week. Kirk is hitting and throwing but not catching. Yariel will throw 1-2 inning outings. Bieber will face live hitters for the first time on Tuesday. RA Whiffleball Verified Member Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Was Barger not playing the field in his rehab stint? This is such a strange injury.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Sometimes throwing injuries doesnt impact your ability to hit so wonder if Springer taking up the DH spot is the reason for the IL stint.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Paddack could be worth a shot. Pitcherlist was on his nuts for a long time but he's never been able to put it together.

He probably gripped the ball too tight on that 101 mph throw to home and inflamed his elbow a bit. I guess he was amped up to be back.

At this point, you’re not asking him to be anything more than a stabilizer. If he can eat innings, keep you in games, and take pressure off the bullpen, there’s value in that. Spanky__99 1
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Rasmussen is one of the new "3-fastball" starters relying primarily on a cutter, 4 seamer, and sinker, adding in the occasional change, an even more occasional curve and a nearly non-existant sweeper. Doesnt walk people and doesnt get barrelled.
