BTS Community Moderator Posted November 27, 2025 Author Posted November 27, 2025 I love that this team really only targets rubber arm guys who they think have a good chance of staying healthy. Atkins probably hasn't even checked in on Michael King or Ranger Suarez. Cease also happens to have premium stuff, which is cool. max silver, Gen.Disarray, Pinkfloid and 3 others 6

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 I mean, if there was a signing other than Imai where you now feel fantastic with Lauer in the pen, this would be it. 2 lost picks but hey, the chips are going into the middle now.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 Seriously man, Hot Damn!
Hipfan Verified Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 I wasn't huge on Cease as a target for the Jays, but even so I'm excited for the signing. Reminiscent of the early 90's when they signed top free agents; I remember when Molitor signed how huge that was for the team. Now to re-sign Bo and grab a reliever. I'd love to have Bassitt back as a depth starter, bullpen weapon too, but I wonder if bringing in Cease makes that possible.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 The contract is confirmed to have differals. Don’t think this eliminates another Starter addition yet.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 Bo and a closer... thats all I ask for plleeeaassseeeee. Just a 300M dollar payroll lol hanton 1

Get a closer and one of Bo/Tucker (preferably Bo for me) BatFlip, Orgfiller and BTS 3

Tiedemann is lurking. Focus on other areas, and if SP looks like a need at the deadline address it then. Focus should be on a middle of the order bat + high leverage bullpen arm. BatFlip, Gen.Disarray, Orgfiller and 2 others 5
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 Guys, don't look at the term or dollars. This guy is durable and the Jays just sent notice league wide that they are not effing around. That's a top of the rotation starter that a rival team can not now get. Windows to win championships close extremely fast and this management group knows it. Ed Rogers got a taste holding that ALCS trophy and his ego wants more, which is fine by me. Flags fly forever. Can't wait for spring. BatFlip, NiagaraJaysFan and Spanky__99 3
Ray Verified Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 One thing I totally forgot about: The ABS challenge system will be in place next year. Swing and miss stuff is going to become even more highly valued from now on. hanton 1
JaysForever Verified Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 And just like that the rotation is basically set unless they move Berrios/Lauer out for someone else.
R.O. Verified Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 Awesome! The Jays just got their Ace for the next 5 years! Do the Jays trade Berrios now? That is a lot of money for a 5th starter. THANOS 1

If hes ready and the Jays are happy with the deal then it would have been announced already. I was thinking about this situation: I don't think Bo would pass a physical right now so he may have to wait.
JaysfaninFL Verified Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 Be really nice to have a LHP in the rotation mix as Lauer looks to be used in a swingman role. Even if Tiedeman stays healthy and can contribute at the MLB level, he will be limited to a Yesavage type workload, probably less. For that reason, I thought Ranger Suarez would be a good fit for the Jays. Curious to see what else they have planned.

The_DH Verified Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 I don't think Bo's clock has started yet for other teams. Nobody would sign him without expecting a full medical. No GM would take the chance unless it's an amazing deal and even then.
The_DH Verified Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 But for today, I'd just say CEASE!!!!! WOW

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 So the Jays got a Boras client. Money talks.

Gausman, Bieber, and Berrios have close to neutral splits. Yesavage has reverse splits. Lefties do better against Cease. It's actually a very well balanced rotation.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 Did the Jays just inflate salaries for the rest of the starters on the market? You bet. Wonder if this will cause a mad rush to scoop up the other starters. Hopefully he doesn't give up a bunch of hr's at the Rogers Centre, (a possibility, he gave up career high 21 last season...gulp). Pete Walker has some work to do. thatoneguy 1

glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 So the Jays lose their 2nd and 5th highest picks with this signing (plus $1M in international money). If they sign Tucker, then I think they lose their 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th highest picks, though they'd gain one back when Bo signs elsewhere in that scenario. Tucker might be the only other qualified FA they go after anyway. I doubt they are in the SP market anymore, and I doubt they are in on Diaz. One of Bo or Tucker, and then one of Suarez (Robert), Helsley, Williams, etc, for the bullpen. Orgfiller and L54 2
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 low extension short arm Cease joins low extension short arm Yesavage lol L54 1
