The only real question marks for Iglesias is that he's getting up there in age. He's as rock solid as they come otherwise. Been aging as one of the best "old guy" relievers out there, but you start to worry that eventually he'll hit a wall. Sign me up for a reasonable one year deal of course.

We could load this pen up

CP Diaz or Williams

R Iglesias

R Hoffman

L Newcomb/Ferguson/Coulombe/Thielbar/Romero

R Varland

L Fluharty

R Yariel/Fisher/Nance/Yimi

L Lauer

Are you Miguel Rojas?

I wish that dude is getting the king treatment right now.

No way they are keeping the guy in the closers role that just cost them a World Series.

Yeah I think they will get someone who can realistically be the closer next season, either aiming super high (Diaz, Williams, Suarez) or Iglesias/Helsley/etc types.

From May 1 to the end of the regular season, Hoffman had a -1.1 WAR with a 5.95 FIP, 4.44 BB/9, and the 2nd worst HR/FB rate in baseball for relievers (behind known stud Ryan Rolison) in 53 IP.

Rojas has a career 79 wRC+ against RHP, and in 2025 it was 67 with 1 HR.

I don't disagree that Hoff might be better in 2026, but I don't think the Jays use him in the closer spot again. Maybe that's me wishing more than anything else. The next time I see that man come into a game in the 9th inning wearing a Jays uniform the score better be 15-1.

As you saw from my article, I think highly of Pete Fairbanks.  I would like the Jays to sign him early, ideally at something like the 2/$18m projected by MLBTR.  That gives them the luxury of being opportunistic - if someone like Williams can not get the deal he wants due to his poor 2025, and he is considering a Semien-like one year pillow deal to build value, the Jays might consider a 2015-KC-like three-headed bullpen monster.
