Sure, I absolutely agree with that, but you posted that the Jays were lucky in SP health, did you not? If you didn't my bad, but the team last season used far more SP than any Jays team in the last 5 years, is that SP luck? Half a decade... not a chance.

I believe they were. Even with usually healthy starting pitching there will be one year where a gausman, berrios, bassit type miss a lot of time.

So the last 5 years are luck too, is this real life man? Why do you keep bringing up Bassitt he's a FA? Gausman was 10th in fWAR this season.

I brought it up because it was the genesis of the whole conversation.

The dodgers are excellent at pitching development and they spend out of their ass. Its not replicable.

They are?  I've watched Bobby Miller and Dustin May come up and flop recently.  The Dodgers buy most of their pitchers these days.

I'm not suggesting they're "bad" at developing arms, but they haven't had nearly as much success lately.

Yes absolutely.

You seem to think we will have 3 pitchers over 160 innings as a likely event every year. I'll take the other side on that. What odds will you give me?

Dustin May was selected at the back of the third round and produced 4.3 WAR during his control years.

Trevor Bauer will be 35 before the season starts and just had an ERA of 4.5 in Japan. It's over.

He wants to play for league min though

If it didn't happen when he was good, why even raise the possibility that it might happen now that he sucks?

He might not be finished.  No reason for me to be defrocked over this.  The Tampa bay rays gave a 50 year old Dennis quaid a million on the off chance he could play.  Someone needs to stand up to the MLB and play him

He will be absolutely tremendous for the clubhouse: stfu

Who "defrocked" you? You're trolling and looking for a reaction, and its stupid and tired. Chief boyscout Ross Atkins is very obviously not going to break the league-wide blackballing for a 35-year old washed Trevor Bauer who just got his tits lit in Japan.

I was looking for players quotes on him, I don’t know if he had that many issues with a lot of players.  Definitely a few situations though.

  • Mookie Betts: "My experience with Bauer is not anything remotely close to what everyone else's experience is. I love him. I think he's an awesome guy. The personal things? I have no control."

Stop trying to make this sound like anything other than a foolish troll suggestion. Seriously. Drop it.

I hate this negative mentality. Do know certain teams don't even get a seat at that table and wish they did? The fact that the Jays are in these conversations and maybe just missing out isn't a bad thing. Someone is always going to finish second. When your competing with the Dodgers for Free Agents its a difficult challenge. They have massive pedigree of success. They don't play in a good division like the Blue Jays do and obviously LA has a certain allure to it. It's not just money that keeps the Jays in these conversations. They are impressed by the organization from a presentation perspective, facilities, how they treat families.  All these things come into play.

Well said, Jonn.

They've had far more guys break in recent memory.

You just answered the JAYS have been fantastically lucky in the last 5 years, am I correct? While lumping '25 in there also?

If you send money to a mod, I'll bet ya, no problem. NO odds, lol... get off your knees'.

Jays had excellent pitching health this year for the most part. They knew about Max's thumb issue in Spring he tried to pitch through it before they ultimately had him get it right instead. Bowden Francis injury was confusing because he absolutely sucked and it was a blessing in disguise. But we all felt it was one of those phantom injury to get his head right and he ultimately missed the rest of the Season.

Obviously in September Bassit went on the IL but apparently it was more related to a conversation he had with the team about trying to get his back healthy for the playoffs because they had a huge division lead at the time and could have pitched through it.

Berrios was removed from the rotation and promptly got shelled in a relief outing before they shut him down. Whether he got injured in the outing or he was already pitching hurt is a mystery.

He was also sent to the NPB minors for the duration of last year, I believe.

You won't offer odds on a certain bet. What an odd decision.

You want me to offer odds, on a bet? Sounds to me that you have zero faith, sounds about right? Since you ignore fact. II'll take that bet, yella!

Straight up or fly.

Well as soon as someone tells me that 3 starters going 160 innings is some kind of inevitability, i want to make some money.

I'd offer you odds on the sun rising tomorrow. You know its happened at least 5 years in a row so..
