Dump Straw for a lottery ticket. That should get us into the revenue of 275M to 280M they need to stay under that next tax threshold of 284M... save at minimum 4 million for the trade deadline. Right or no? Straw remains untradable Replacement level projection

Loperfido can take over Straw's role as 5th OF at league minimum.

But with how MLB salaries have ballooned in recent offseasons his contract actually looks like a relative bargain and as such the acquisition cost would be painfully high. Stangstag and Jays24 2
SeranthonySantander Verified Member Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 They definitely aren't moving that Machado contract, that's going to be like a Mike Trout deal
jmomcc Verified Member Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 Payroll wise that is a really backloaded contract which might make it less attractive to some teams. I wonder what they think of him as a possible centre fielder.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 Feels like we've heard the Padres want to make a change and/or cut salary for several years now. They have been making massive moves every year anyways... what more can a franchise do lol.

From all reports, Kilometres Straw was a massive part of that culture and was a real leader in the clubhouse. I think he is a guy they keep around. As long as he doesn't get 10 at-bats in the World Series again most of us would be fine with it. But he can still be dumped in the Minors for a little savings.

There's a high probability that Yesavage could match or surpass that number in his first full rookie season. Homegrown aces don't grow on trees, especially if you're the Blue Jays.

And even with the contract the ask for Tatis is gonna be insane. Like Barger, Nimmala, Jo Jo Parker, and probably ++. Probablly too much, unless they're gonna eat some cash. That said, he's one of a few guys that's probably worth nuking the farm for. Spanky__99 1

Actually probably a better contract than what Vlads will end up as

I made a mistake, it was 6.1 for tatis. So, you can add christopher sanchez. Pretty good list! It's only like ten guys in the last 5 years.

SeranthonySantander Verified Member Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 You'd probably get 20-1 that Trey has a better year than Skubal. I don't think we've seen enough to know how he will do over a full season. He had some shaky outings and some really good ones. Teams didn't have full scouting reports on him. We shouldn't be shocked if he has to go to AAA again at some point but I expect he will be a good #3 his rookie year. DonJays 1

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 My favorite thing with Yesavage was that he played pretty much only against good teams BOS NYY SEA LAD And mostly kicked their asses Want to see him carve up the A's and Twins and Rockies leaffie, abola2121 and Gen.Disarray 3
