This is the best possible lineup we could put out there.  Makes me sad not seeing a healthy Bo out there because we'd be stacked then.

Don't love Barger in the cleanup spot right now.

I know he homered in the last game of the season but he's looked like hot garbage for a long time now.

I would have gone with the vet in Santander. 

Also prefer Schneider over Clement despite the defensive advantage of Clement. I just don't like Clement against right-handers, especially one that tends to be wild and we need as much power as we can muster.

Id rather have an elite defensive player if batting in the 9th spot. 

My only true gripe could be seeing Santandar in the field over Springer but this also allows you to pinch run/defensive substitute Santandar while keeping Springer in the game.

I have Schneider batting second because of his ability to draw walks. Considering Gil is on the hill especially.

I would like to see Davis in the lineup. Dude has looked lethal with the bat lately, he was cranking homers in the intrasquad games

Lukes has been too good in the 2nd spot to move down for Schneider against a righty.  That would make sense when we face Fried tomorrow though.

.915 OPS vs .734 OPS.

Schneider is significantly better against RHP.

Their numbers are actually much tighter against lefties.

Ya but Lukes has been great with the bat while providing ELITE defense.  Schneider and Santandar in the field isnt ideal.

Something to consider is that Schneider's numbers against right handed pitching receive a sizeable boost because he's primarily played against right handed starters that provide more favorable matchups for him. If he played every day against all right handed pitching I strongly suspect the splits would be a lot more even.

I have no problem with Lukes being in the lineup just lower. I'll take the loss on defense at second base with Schneider over Clement. I just think we're going to need to score runs and Schneider gives us a much better chance to do it.

I would say this is the Yankees A lineup.

It's begging to be matched up with left-handed relievers.

If we can keep the game in a good spot through the first four or five innings, each game, I think we're in decent shape.

I'd love to see Judge misplay a ball that allows us to walk off with the win and have him curl up in a ball crying in right field while sucking his thumb as he suffers a total breakdown.

Simply put, if they Yankees play bad D again this week they won’t be winning. 

They need to play solid D and they need Judge/Stanton to hit homeruns.

 

Jays need the bullpen to remain solid, and they need Vlad to wake up.

The problem with not starting Schneider is I don't see a scenario where he comes in as a pinch hitter; if the Yankees bring in Tim Hill to pitch to Barger maybe? but that's unlikely given he isn't used much.  So that bat is left on the bench at least for today; he HAS to start vs Fried and Rodon.

Lets see how Volpe and Jazz handle noise levels on Defense. I could see a quick shift to a better defensive infield if this game goes poorly.

Chisolm has produced excellent defensive metrics at second base so I don't think the Yankees should have any concerns over his defense.

His metrics are fine but he is prone to mistakes. Obviously his nightmares were more at Third Base.

Will Smith had a hairline fracture on his hand Sep 3rd, he just spoke about his injury and availability for todays game.  He will start on the bench but can swing and play if called upon.

Why can't we have nice things like this (Bo presser with a full update on his injury and availability going forward)

Dante said not worth the risk with free agency looming.

Its very odd how Bo has just kinda disappeared from existence. No updates, no interviews, etc. I guess he has a feeling he wont be good to play and he probably isn’t signing back with the Jays?? Idk

I imagine Santander will not play the whole game, especially if the Jays get a lead. By having him in the field you can get Straw in without taking Springer out.
