Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 0-2 count put it in the dirt Berrios.............s***.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Clearly has nothing to get anybody out. But sure let him blow any chance of getting back into the game.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Berrios not making a strong case for a 6 man rotation.
dancingmachine Verified Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Vladdy swinging at worms there
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Ya sorry but I dont want to see less Bieber starts and even Scherzer/Lauer starts with the way theyre pitching to accommodate a 6 man rotation.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 The problem with Berrios is the fact that he has multiple years left on his contract. I don't want that to influence any decisions the Blue Jays make with him but it probably will.

Hard to tell a vet who isnt clearly crapping the bed theyre out of the rotation.

Nexii Verified Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 I mean Berrios/Bassitt are fine as backend starters. On pace for 2 WAR. The problem is we don't have any elite pitching, just a bunch of average guys. Subtracting Green and Francis, we're still league average in pitching. Shows how much the lineup has carried this team, we'd be .500 with an average lineup
dancingmachine Verified Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Qualified starters era KG is 32, JB is 36 CB is 43
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 We would've been #1 in the major league if our rotation was league average.
neverbeenhere Verified Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 a blow out loss after a blow out win

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 At least we are "ballooning" Evaldi's ERA lol jaysthebest and hanton 1 1

Berrios will be back next season. During 162 game season, both are valuable arms since they can provide innings and durability. However, if the Postseason started today, neither of them are on the Postseason roster IMO. Will be a tough decision once Bieber is back, do they remove one of Berrios or Bassitt from the rotation or go with a 6-man rotation for September.

Yea feels like Loperfido situation again, tough decisions to be made Looking at most teams with better pitching they either have 3 or even 4 guys pitching like Gausman (good, not great) OR one really elite starter that's elevating the SP WAR. Also our #5 spot has been an absolute black hole. Scherzer is coming back strong though so it might not be that bleak.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Berrios’ options for 2027-28 will either be 2/48, 2/50, or 2/52 depending on how many innings he throws in 2026. In other words, he’s not opting out. Have to hope Arte Moreno needs a starter this winter. jaysblue 1
Nexii Verified Member Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Bassitt has been slightly better, so it's probably his rotation slot. Berrios being back next year I think plays less of a factor given they are in a playoff race. That's if they go 5 man rotation which I think they should. The bye is just too important to shoot for over being nice abola2121 1
