Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Is Vladdy going to elevate a ball this game?

Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Varsho with the groundout. Clearly the worst hitter in baseball. gruber9292 and Jays24 2
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Good to see Varsho running up the line like that. Hopefully the hammy issues are behind him. Stangstag 1
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Interesting (and a good thing) looking at the Jays pen right now, there isn't a Chad Green type who you don't want pitching in leverage innings that they can throw out there. Maybe Fluharty. Most likely the RP's used tonight will be Flu, Rodriguez (hasn't thrown in a while for some reason), Fisher, and Nance.

The Milwaukee blueprint basically. I'd take power on top of that but i'd settle for contact. That's probably easier to get. The major problem in Colorado is that to develop a good pitching staff, they have to figure out how to generate all those ground balls with pitchers whose pitches don't move as much due to the thinner air. Not sure how they could overcome that in any meaningful way since movement of pitches depends alot on spin rate...and spin rate in thin air just doesnt translate to the movement they should be getting. Its also a big factor for why hitters there have big home/away splits. It's not just because the ball flies farther (that is also a big factor) but when they travel to other cities the balls break more than they are used to... so obviously impacts their ability to make hard contact. John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Also. Very cool the Jays hit for the cycle on 4 consecutive batters... Varsho HR followed by Clement triple, Loperfido single and Schneider double.
jmomcc Verified Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 I just don't get how they construct teams. Singles, doubles and triples are all at least 15% over major league average... and they have the highest K% in the show. It can't be that hard to prioritize defense, contact, and baserunning. Those are all things that are probably less valuable now than they used to be.

I think i'd want a ton of different fastballs and be good at teaching change ups. edit: or splitters.

Yeah... it would just be really hard to do consistently since they wouldn't rwally be preaching spin rate... which might help them at home, but then wouldn't help on the road. Would be a nearly impossible task I would think. Maybe a guy like Bassitt...if he threw more ground balls?

Home runs at coors are above league average but not to the same extent as other types of hits. They lead in everything else but are just above average there. So, maybe just extreme emphasis on defense. And variety of pitching.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Look at the number of posts when we are winning to a losing situation, it's proof in the pudding, this follows with the Birds that don't post when they win. Also, TIL you can ignore posters by typing their names into your own profile, not like it used to be by clicking onto the dummies profile. Today's gravy... Wooooooo... GO JAYS GO!!! Stangstag 1
