Buffalo Bisons Buffalo (3), Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (6) - 7/12 Box Score Saturday's contest was a dull one, with Buffalo fighting uphill for much of the game. They got the scoring started in the second inning, when Yohendrick Pinango blasted his sixth home run for Buffalo this season, to give the Bisons a one run lead. Jose Rojas returned the favor for the RailRiders in the bottom of the frame, but his home run was a two-run shot, putting Buffalo down one. In the sixth, an RBI single and a three-run homer from Jake Gatewood gave the RailRiders a five-run lead. Riley Tirotta added a sacrifice fly in the ninth and Ali Sánchez had an infield single to the shortstop that brought in the final run for Buffalo. The Bisons would lose 6-3. Yohendrick Pinango- 1-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 0 BB, 1 K, 1 HR Ryan Jennings- 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K Buffalo (4), Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (5) - 7/13 Box Score In the final game of the series between the Bisons and the RailRiders, Lazaro Estrada returned to the mound as a bulk pitcher on the day. He pitched four innings, starting in the third and had some success. He gave up just three hits, but he walked three and surrendered three runs, to go with two strikeouts. In the first inning, the RailRiders took the lead on a Spencer Jones solo home run. Buffalo countered in the second, when Christian Bethancourt drove in a run via a sacrifice fly. In the fourth an RBI single brought in two runs for the RailRiders and again it was Bethancourt that answered for Buffalo. This time he launched a two-run home run in the seventh inning. The bottom of the seventh saw Jesus Rodriguez single home two runs for the RailRiders on a ground ball to center field. The Bisons rally in the eighth inning was cut short, but not before Riley Tirotta plated another run for Buffalo on a ground ball force out. The Bisons failed to push across another run on the scoreboard and ended up falling in this one 5-4. Christian Bethancourt- 2-3, 1 R, 3 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 HR, 1 2B Lazaro Estrada- 4 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K New Hampshire Fisher Cats New Hampshire (6), Somerset (3) - 7/12 Box Score Saturday's game between Somerset and New Hampshire was marred by errors in what was Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz’s Double-A debut for the Patriots. After an easy first inning for Rodriguez-Cruz, he got into a little trouble in the second inning. Charles McAdoo led-off the inning with a double, followed by a catcher's interference. The Fisher Cats wouldn't be able to cash anyone in, as Peyton Williams struck out and Gabriel Martinez grounded into a double play. Somerset was more fortunate in the bottom half of the inning, scoring two runs on a double by Max Burt. Ryan McCarty singled home a run in the top of the fourth inning and McAdoo added two on his second double of the game. A fourth run would score when McCarty scampered home on a wild pitch. In the fourth, Cade Doughty added to New Hampshire's lead with a sacrifice fly, scoring Devonte Brown. Alex Stone knocked in the final run of the game with a single in the sixth, scoring Brown again. The bullpen held their own in this game where all nine innings would come from them. New Hampshire took this game 6-3. Charles McAdoo: 2-4, 2 RBI, 1 K, 2 2B Rafael Sanchez: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K New Hampshire (1), Somerset (5) 7/13 Box Score The final game before the all-star break was particularly problematic for New Hampshire and their bats. They were facing a rehabbing Luis Gil and Carlos Lagrange for the second time this week. Gil struck out six Fisher Cats on his way to a solid 3.1 innings. His only blemish was a Charles McAdoo solo shot to left field in the top of the fourth inning. Lagrange came into the game in the top of the fifth inning with the game all square at one. He was more than spectacular, throwing five near perfect innings, only surrendering one walk, zero hits, and striking out seven. Even with Grant Rogers throwing a gem of his own, New Hampshire had no shot. The Fisher Cats fell 5-1 in a game they struck out 13 times and only had two hits. Charles McAdoo: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 HR Grant Rogers: 6 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K Vancouver Canadians Vancouver (10), Hillsboro (6) - 7/12 Box Score This was a bittersweet game for the Canadians, as their offense exploded for double digits, but there were some scary moments for the pitching. Jackson Wentworth pitched three and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs off of two hits and three walks, with two of the walks coming in the bottom of the fourth before a trainer was called to the mound to take him out of the game with injury. This was the half inning after the Canadians scored the first five runs of the game, starting with an Arjun Nimmala double, then a wild pitch that scored Cutter Coffey, a RBI fielder’s choice from Sean Keys, and Carter Cunningham had his own double to score four runs. Nick Goodwin hit a single to move Cunningham to third, but Jay Harry hit into a sac fly double play as Cunningham scored but Nick Goodwin was out at second to end the inning. Edinson Batista replaced Wentworth and immediately let in all the inherited runs with a homer, and then lost the lead allowing two more runs to score. In the top of the fifth, Victor Arias, Cutter Coffey, and Arjun loaded the bases, and with two outs Sean Keys hit a grand slam to give the Canadians the lead back. The bullpen kept the Hops at six runs, with Kai Peterson pitching two strong innings before Yondrei Rojas came in, who went one and one-third of an inning before he took a liner to the head and had to be removed from the game. Arjun Nimmala hit a ground-rule double to make it double-digits for the Canadians in between the innings, and Aaron Munson ended the game with two outs after replacing Rojas, who hopefully is ok. Arjun Nimmala - 2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 2 2B Nimmala has struggled since his hot start, but he’s been showing some pop again after a power outage. He’s now had three doubles in his last two games. Kai Peterson - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K Vancouver (6), Hillsboro (7) - 7/11 Box Score The Canadians took an early lead off the back of strong starting pitching from Stanifer, who pitched three scoreless innings. The offense also scored three runs in the first, with Sean Keys walking with the bases loaded, and then Nick Goodwin hitting an RBI-single to score two more runs. They added another run in the fourth inning, this time Cutter Coffey scored Hayden Gilliland on his own RBI-single. However, the bullpen collapsed, as Julio Ortiz lost command of the zone and threw a wild pitch, before JJ Sanchez came in and caught the wild pitch bug and threw one himself and then hit a batter immediately which resulted in the Hops’ first run. He then threw another Wild pitch that allowed a second run to score. A Cutter Coffey error extended the inning and let run number three on the board, which led to a walk and a single to score two more runs for the Hops and let them take the lead. A passed ball, into a single and an error from Bryce Arnold allowed another two runs to score, as the Canadians fell apart in the sixth inning. The Canadians had a chance to comeback, as Nicolas Deschamps and Bryce Arnold (born in Canada) hit a single each, and then Jay Harry had one of his own which loaded the bases with no outs. Although they didn’t get the dreaded NOBLETIGER, Cutter Coffey and Eddie Micheletti Jr. were only able to muster up two RBI groundouts, and Arjun Nimmala was able to get to the dish for the last chance to tie it up for the Canadians, but fell short with a fly out to end the game. Eddie Micheletti Jr. - 1-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 2B Gage Stanifer - 3 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K Stanifer was taking out early, as he’s already hit a career high in innings pitched and the Jays may want to take it slower with the talented righty. After a rough last appearance, he righted the ship and only walked one batter in three innings of work. Dunedin Blue Jays Dunedin (1), Palm Beach (7) - 7/12 Box Score Dunedin continues to struggle as a lot of their top end talent has been promoted to higher levels within the organization due to strong performance and to give enough space for new draftees to start off. The game was close heading into the fourth inning, as both starters kept each team scoreless for the first three innings. RJ Schreck got on base and got to third, where Sam Shaw hit a sac fly to score the first run of the game. Sammy Hernandez hit a single against Johnny King to tie it up right after. Juanmi Vazquez pitched two scoreless innings after replacing King, but the wheels fell off in the seventh, as he allowed four runs allowing a homer to Rainiel Rodriguez and then Vazquez and Eminen Flores proceeded to give up three bases loaded walks. The Cardinals scored two more runs that same inning as the Jays could not come back from that. Tucker Toman - 2-3, 1 BB Johnny King - 4 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K King had his best start in Low-A ball, striking out seven hitters in his longest outing. The lefty’s sinker was on full display, throwing it over 60% of the time with 17 inches of ride and nearly 13 inches of run. King had 16 whiffs as hitters could not deal with his excellent stuff. Dunedin (0), Palm Beach (0) - Suspended after 5 innings Box Score Weather woes continued for Dunedin, as the game was suspended in the fifth inning with no runs on the board. Silvano Hechavarria - 4 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K Silvano Hechavarria pitched well, with four scoreless innings lowering his ERA to 2.86 in Low-A. FCL Blue Jays F-BLU (3), F-TIG (2) - F/8 - 7/12 Box Score Jose Dickerson's RBI single for the Tigers squad in the top of the first inning started this game early Saturday morning. Yeuni Munoz, who is still rehabbing for the Blue Jays squad, returned the favor with an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the inning. Brock Tibbitts scored from third after he had walked and advanced on a wild pitch. Blue Jays pitcher Eduar Gonzalez was effective, after a rehabbing Eric Pardinho came out of the game. Gonzalez went 3.2 innings, not allowing a run, only giving up three hits and two walks, while striking out two. The Blue Jays had a chance to get the walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh after Yorman Licourt walked and David Beckles was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Unfortunately, Aldo Gaxiola hit into a double play and Enmanuel Bonilla flew out to end the scoring threat. In the top of the eighth, an RBI single gave the Tigers squad a lead of one. In the bottom of the inning, the first batter, Andres Arias continued his power barrage with a walk-off blast. The fifth home run of the season for the 18-year-old. Andres Arias- 1-3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 0 BB, 2 K, 1 HR Eduar Gonzalez- 3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K F-BLU (10), F-TIG (4) - 7/14 Box Score In one of the highly anticipated games of the FCL season, Alek Manoah made his season debut. It was a rehab start returning from Tommy John surgery he had in 2024. It did not go well, as he let the first four hitters reach base safely. He gave up a single, threw a wild pitch, walked a hitter, hit another, and walked a second one. He finally got an out via a strikeout swinging, but he was done after hitting his pitch limit. The results can just be pushed aside and excused, as it was great he got through his pitches and showed some good velocity sitting around 94 MPH and hitting 95 MPH. The Tigers team would go on to score four in the inning to take control of the game with a big lead. Dariel Ramon started the Blue Jays comeback in the second inning with a sacrifice fly and Josh Kasevich added a bases loaded walk. In the fourth, Ramon again drove in a run with an RBI double and Dylan Leach tied the game with an RBI single. In the seventh, the Blue Jays charged out in front with five runs, the only hit driving in the runs was an Andres Arias double. The rest scored on a balk, a walk, a groundout, and a wild pitch. The Blue Jays team would go on to win this one 10-4. BJR was the away team and took advantage of that by getting on the scoreboard right away in the top of the first inning. Kennew Blanco singled home Juan Sanchez to get the scoring started. Juarlin Soto committed an error a few batters later, allowing Blanco to score. Nicolas Vergara would then walk with the bases-loaded, giving BJR the 3-0 lead out the gates. BJB cut into the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Blanco drew a bases-loaded walk himself and Yeicer Crespo grounded out, scoring Carlos Garcia and cutting the BJR lead to one. Randy Soto would add an insurance run in the eighth with a bases-loaded walk himself, as BJR took this head-to-head matchup 4-2. Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, BJB got an RBI triple from Esmeiquel Arrieche that scored J.T. Bain. Two batters later, Franklin Rojas singled home Arrieche to give BJB the lead. From there, the BJB bullpen faltered and GIO scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the game 7-4. In the bottom half of the inning, GIO scored a run on a single, which would ultimately be the game winner. They would win the game by a score of 3-2. BJR trailed ANG 8-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Luis Felipe drove in a run with a double, Elaineiker Coronado and Kennew Blanco each added one with a bases-loaded walk, and Randy Soto was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. In all, BJR scored four runs in the seventh and got back into the game. Unfortunately for BJR, they coughed up four runs in the next half inning and were right back where they started. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Juan Sanchez smacked a double that scored Felipe and Coronado lined a triple to right to score Sanchez. An error by ANG would lead to another run for BJR, but that was all they would get, falling to ANG 12-7. The raw stuff is still a little to be desired but the Jays have found a good job at finding international arms who can throw strikes.
