Yes, it's known that we could have brought him back via free agency. Anyways, Swanson will ALWAYS be tied to the death of the beauty that is Teo. Go cope by increasing your meds :) Yeah I still wasn't crazy for that trade at the time. Teo's bat could have been useful in 2023 and with him still being here, that maybe gives the Jays an advantage to re-sign him to a contract extension. As well, if Teo signed a contract extension after the 2023 season, likely the Jays don't go out and sign Santander to a 5-year -deal like they did during the offseason. But anyways, who knows what would have happened. But never a fan of trading a solid everyday player for a reliever. Barrelsandbombs and Jays24 2

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2025 Posted June 15, 2025 Just an absolute steam rolling this weekend. Jays got a rude awakening when you run into good pitching. CJ-Freeway 1

Masterbather Verified Member Posted June 15, 2025 Posted June 15, 2025 Well that was sobering. So we're not the greatest team that ever existed lol. It's still a good team, a well-balanced team once we get healthy. However, we need more frontline starting pitching. We got some dead weight in the bullpen that I assume will be gone once the bullpen gets healthy. It better not be based on seniority. Vlad also needs to be a superstar. I have a feeling this is a dead horse that will be beaten into a fine dust over the coming years. But it's the f***ing truth. CJ-Freeway, max silver, jaysblue and 2 others 3 2

Because that next season Swanson was lights out for us and more valuable to the team than Teo would have been. In 2023 Swanson pitched over 66 innings and finished the year with an era+ of 145! Was a very good deal considering we could have zero for Teo if he walked and we also had the ability to re- acquire him and keep Swanson. Your revisionist history won't work on this board. You call it revisionist history while I was against trading Teo the entire time and wanted to bring him back the 2 separate times he was a free agents too. Anyways, it was a simple comment from me to suggest that Swanson has been pathetic the past 2 years. Y'all need to stop looking so deep into it when its clearly a big L on our end.

Yeah Vlad is having a solid year, but you're paying him to be a superstar and so far he hasn't delivered on that front. He's looking like his 2022 version with the bat which is meh for what he's being paid. We need 2021 and 2024 Vladdy offensively! Stangstag 1

The move was to trade Teo for bullpen help and to replace his salary with a FA, which we did in KK, who was better than Teo that year. The org, for whatever reason, had decided to move on from Teo - likely expecting his bat to decline quickly in his early 30's. It looks liked a great decision in 2023, but the Dodgers helped him get back on track last year. So far so good this year - although his average exit velo and hard hit% are wayyy down this year, as are his walks. He's still been good and believe me, I love Teo and wish he was in our lineup, but he might be close to that ledge unfortunately. Stangstag 1

Yeah I really thought they should’ve brought Teo back on a 3-4 year deal after Seattle and I think that easily could’ve been accomplished. Didn’t happen. FO doesn’t like Teo. We brought in Santander instead, who is a very similar player but fits the lineup better as a switch hitter. Although he hasn’t shown it yet, Santander will provide some of that thump we’ve been missing since Teo’s departure. Im almost certain he’ll be a key contributor for us down the stretch
