Shits on Green for giving up 2.5 HR/9 meanwhile Hoffman who he praises has the same home run rate on the year lol. nah man we need someone like Arden, he was questioning the moves that's a good thing
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Rays, Guardians, and Twins lose. Astros and Mariners losing. Yankees won, but a pretty solid night in the out of town scoreboard so far. Orgfiller, Spanky__99 and Omar 3

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Its not everyday you give up 5 runs over the 8th and 9th innings and win...gotta take that W with a huge sigh of relief
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Can we take a moment to appreciate the offense lately! We have been getting punished for the past 2+ seasons until this recent stretch. Scoring runs is f***ing fun!! spats and G-Snarls 2
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 John Schneider is really, really bad at managing a bullpen. The one bright spot here is that he had Hoffman warm up the pen leading up to the 9th anyway, so using him here was probably better than letting him get hot, not using him, and then pitching him tomorrow as well. Now he's definitely out for tomorrow (barring JS losing his mind), another off day Thursday, and then he won't pitch Saturday either with Francis starting (no chance that's a save situation unless the Baseball God's are smiling on us that day), so maybe he can rest up a bit.

hanton Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 this doesn't feel like a win, strange.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Jays pick up a game on everyone but the Yankees as they're wrapping up a W... Min/Cle/KC/TB all lost. The 'Stros about to lose to the Chisox, lol... and Seattle's down 2-0 to the D Backs. Feels good, man.

Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Hoffman must lead the majors in home runs by a reliever.
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 We gave Hoffman $33M for 3 years, so we can only hope for him to get better.

harvey16 Verified Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Hoffman has to be the worst 17 Save closer ever at this point of the season. He's converted 17 of 20 save opportunities, yet had an ERA of 5.70 and even his FIP is over 4.00. That's absolutely terrible stats for a closer.

Yeah the Jays caught a huge break with Barger turning into a good 3B and Rodriguez/Little/etc turning into leverage relievers, because that significantly narrows down their deadline needs. They absolutely have to add a starter, preferably closer to a #1-2 than a 4-5. Obviously some other cosmetic changes would be helpful (another bench bat, etc), but adding a SP that could realistically start a playoff game (and not just someone to soak up regular season innings) would be a huge add. Berrios, Gausman, Scherzer and Bassitt seems like a solid 4man rotation in the post season. IMO they should be looking on adding another high leverage reliever depending on how Sandlin and Garcia pitch once back from injury Overall, they just need vladdy and Santander to hit and they should be able to take AL East

No way in hell did either of us expect this offensive outburst after what we witnessed the past 2 years... especially without Santandar & Varsho. With Francis blowing chunks, it would be hard to argue with you now lol.

Agree 100%. In a playoff series Gausman is really the only SP on the team I’d feel confident in and even then he has a dud outing more than you’d like. Bassit is a solid number 4 who can soak innings but I don’t think you really want him starting a playoff game.

They all have a f***ing stud and really good number two options as well. Even beyond that, Seattle, KC, Minny, Texas. All better at the front of the rotation. Are we really going to compete with those teams with Gausman and f***ing Bassitt/Berrios? As much as I appreciate those guys, let's be real.

gruber9292 Verified Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 The offence is much more fluid with Satandar out of the line up.

I was completely neutral on the Santander signing, but I'm willing to wait out his struggles, obviously he's not as bad as he has been and he's had some injuries, just hasn't gotten comfortable yet. Hopefully he comes back healthy and maybe with the team and offense playing well, it takes some of the pressure off and he can relax a little. We don't have a lot of thunder lower in the lineup, his bat lengthens our lineup power wise. jaysblue, Jays24, Spanky__99 and 1 other 4

Yeah and while the Jays have a good pen, the more often teams see the same guys in the series the more they do well against them as we saw last postseason. Its great to see the Jays do well but I'm skeptical they are a legit contender with team as is. We will see what they do at the deadline.

Come the deadline hotstove and the Jays are in a similar position as now, you bet your ass they'll be getting a front end arm at the deadline.
