Jays are lucky the leafs are going on a run and the afterthought of the city right now. Once their season is over and the Jays have more attention the media is going to turn hard on how big of a disaster they are.

Is it though? When you shop at the bargain bin this is what you get. They are a below average team. There is nothing spectacular about them and that is the huge issue. You need at least three or four stars. Right now they have none. Vladdy could be but he’s not a clutch or consistent enough hitter. They spend so much money for a load of crap and then management talks about how things are coming until it’s too late. Same thing every year and ownership keeps buying it. Crapiro and Shatkins are horrible and have never proven they can build a winner. Why are they still here? You really need more evidence? Years of crap isn’t good enough? I blame ownership. They are clueless and management knows this.

Where did they shop from the bargain bin lol. They signed legit players this off-season. Between the Bullpen additions of Hoffman and Garcia. To adding Santander and going after some of the biggest names in Free Agency this is such a stupid take. The Pirates go shopping in the bargain bin. Just idiotic. They even gave Max 15 million to be the 5th Starter lol.

Not disagreeing with you but they didn't need Max (who has been hurt for 2 years now). They needed to go hard after a 3B overpay if needed. The Gimenez was another glove deal. Didn't need that either.

He does have a point though that as a whole the Jays are just a bad team. Their run differential means they’ve actually been lucky to win as many games as they have. Even if the Jays turn it around and get above .500/make the postseason this team just isn’t good enough. And next year you lose Bichette so it will be even more challenging. They basically have to rebuild at this point.

I am ok with a rebuild but it can't be with this front office

The jays definitely needed a SP lol. Between him and Francis being a gas can so far they only have 3/5 of a rotation that’s above replacement lol.

3B is a big hole though, I agree. (Also should have been addressed)

Not saying they didnt need a SP. Just saying it didn't have to be Max. How many innings did they expect for 15m? Guy is a bandaid.

Oh 100%. Atkins needs to be fired. If Shapiro doesn’t fire him he should be let go as well. It sends a bad message to not just the fans but everyone in the organization to keep him around. You need to be accountable, and doesn’t matter if the jays have been unlucky along the way but you can’t have 10 years  and 0 playoff wins with a roster/farm system situation that’s in a downturn as it is right now.

Like this is a bottom 10 roster in MLB with a top 5 payroll. It’s pretty remarkable really.

Guy is a hall of fame talent and a dumb ass between the ears. Just zero baseball IQ whatsoever and a big reason why he constantly underperforms. Yet the morons in charge of the blue jays decided to throw him 500M and now have an unmovable contract on their hands. Meanwhile the rest of the organization is complete trash.

The fact Vlad is getting paid as a 1B way more than Bobby Witt Jr is blasphemy.

It’s not stupid at all. Other than Santander, I haven’t been impressed. They went after a 40 year old pitcher, not a 20 something year old with year left and at his peak. Signing one hitter for me wasn't enough and we all knew that. It’s proven by now that Kirk, Vladdy, Bichette, Springer can’t win together. It’s the wrong makeup. They got Hoffman but again he’s older. We tend to get players that were once really good but aren’t what they use to be. You can be angry all you want but the truth is big name players don’t want to come here and it is a huge issue and the front office has done a terrible job building up the prospects and farm system.

Yet ownership doesn’t seem too bothered by it. As long as they get people at the gates they won’t change. I don’t think winning a World Series is high on their list. Its more about the money that keeps rolling in from those attending.

If you want to argue they didn’t go after the right players or pieces that’s one thing. But to suggest they weren’t willing to to spend money on legit help as your post suggested is absurd. I wasn’t really a big fan of the Santander signing but understand they needed to do something to address Power. Signing Max to a one-year deal was never going to hurt anything they did.

They needed to do more but money wasn’t the issue in this scenario.
