Who cares, it's not your money. Give him 300-500m whatever he wants, actually just offer 50-100m more than what his agent wants. I don't see the point in wanting to save money now. We already opened the floodgates with Vladdy's horrendous deal.

Yeah Adames is definitely the benchmark. If Bo wants to get Seager, Turner or Machado money, will have to put together a 6-7 WAR season lol.

Vlad has 17.1 fWAR in 3600 career PA's (wRC+ 137)

Bo has 16.4 fWAR in 2700 career PA's (wRC+ 119)

They just gave the porkchop 1B $500 million. Seems like a pipe dream to get Bo anywhere near $200 million

That might be possible if the defensive improvements hold up over a full season. Bo has been comically unlucky with batted ball results as he's sitting at .432 xwOBA at the moment.

He needs to improve his defense and have a career year offensively where he spots a wRC+ of 140 or so. Wasn't laughing at Bo, more the fact that some posters suggested he would be getting around $300M as a free agent. Hasn't proven he's a 6-7 WAR guy. 

Bo's career high in WAR was 4.9 in 2021 and 4.8 in 2022. Definitely believe he can reach those totals again and sit between a 4 to 5 WAR guy for the rest of his twenties. 6 to 7 WAR is possible but unlikely unless he undergoes a transformation on both sides to his game. But sure the upside/potential is there.

It’s difficult to see a path to Bo doubling his projections if we are all being honest here

I don't think Bo has many any sizeable improvements where the offence will be close to that for the full season though. He always has stretches where he rakes and I think this is just that. He's making a little more contact in the zone but still chasing at the same rate his whole career. Hitting the ball with the same exit velo as well.

He likely finishes the season as around 120-130wWRC+ like he did from 2020-2023.

Bo's highest OBP as well was only .358 which came in his rookie year over 196 AB's in 46 games.

In his three full seasons from 2021-2023, his OBP was .343, .333 and .339 which is meh. Also, career high in SB's was 25 back in 2021. Hasn't stolen that many since.

He's a tier below guys like Turner and Machado when they became FA's.

Bo has made a sizeable 4% improvement to his overall contract rate despite not really improving the chase rate to any degree. This has led to a large decrease to his strikeout rate which is pretty encouraging to see. It's too bad he's not being properly rewarded for the top notch underlying metrics, I recall this was an issue for him at points last season as well.

I don't think Bo would, or should, get 300mil in free agency necessarily. But given the way contracts are going these days and given the contract the Jays just gave Vladdy, his side is probably asking for 300mil at least if he is to avoid free agency altogether. 

I'd love to get him for the Adames deal. But does anyone think there's a chance he signs an extension that feels comfortable for anyone? Imagine a contract you'd be ok with and tack on 100mil sounds more like it
