Damn I thought Cade Povich would have better stuff

He's like, 91mph poo

So rare for this team to hit homers and when they do, it almost always feels like they're solo homers.

That kind of HR is the thing Vlad should be able to do like 10 times a year

I know it was a s***** hanging cutter from a minor league trashbird rookie but it was still on the black and he almost always just slaps that into the ground

good sign!

It's amazing what homers can do for the team

We have 1 hit through 3 innings but lead 3-0

Vladdy seems to get his oppo hits in the air better than the stuff he pulls. Guy is an enigma.

2 out, 3 run bomb

2 out texas leaguer to cash another run

Enjoyable game so far but there's still time for it to all fall apart

Hey hey, leave the doom and gloom to me, you're supposed to be Team Positive lol.

A split with the Jays is a losing proposition for the Orioles. Big step for the Jays team.

I wonder what the O's would give up for Kikuchi? If there's any team with expendable minor league position player depth, it's them.

Is Vlad lifting the ball again? Are we about to get 2021 Vlad for the remainder of the season?

Yes, I like to get my hopes up just so I come crashing down lol.

Some of the best swings we've seen from Vlad this year these last two ABs. Two outside pitches driven opposite field with authority.

I think they would jump at Romano or Garcia.

I just went to look at Fangraphs list of Orioles prospects. Doesn’t exist. They never even finished the last 10 teams. Has that place just given up on trying?

They've been slow releasing them. Seems like once a week since the start of the calendar year or something.

They haven't stopped putting out the lists, but they keep shooting themselves in the foot by trying to come out with extremely in-depth detailed team lists despite not having nearly the amount of staff required for such an undertaking. So as a result they're in constant catch up mode putting out lists throughout the year. They just released the Marlins today, and are missing 10 teams with half the AL not done. It's a thankless task that they never seem to rectify, nobody cares about an org's bottom 10 35 FV prospects, just put out everyone's top 20 or something and then spend the rest of the season hyping up helium/less heralded guys that could be something.

Yeah they need to either staff up or pivot.

Writeups for even the top 10 org prospects don't need to be as long as they make them unless the player is uniquely interesting. Outside the top 10, some bullet points would be completely fine. Most people are more interested in the grades and objective information than the colour and player context anyway.

Example from their 29th ranked Marlins prospect. Their text:

A lot of big-framed college boppers have suspect hit tools, but Vradenburg’s junior year ascent seemed much more balanced. He posted equal walk and strike out rates (13%) while driving the ball to all fields, and slashed a cartoonish .400/.492/.721 leading up to the draft. At his size, Vradenburg’s swing inevitably has length and he struggles to turn on velocity. It was something to watch as he left the Big Ten and entered pro ball, and so far Vradenburg has struggled very, very badly at Low-A, where he’s striking out nearly 30% of the time. His power is not yet actualized in games, despite his college slugging percentage. First base prospects need to rake all the way up the minors to have prospect value and Vradenburg is doing the opposite of that so far. Barring a profound late-season turnaround, he won’t be on the next Marlins list update.

My version that would convey the same info:

Big body, long-swing, college slugger who had a near 1:1 K:BB in college with a cartoonish slash line. Struggles to turn on velocity. Early returns in MiLB show holes in his swing. His power is not yet actualized in games, despite his college SLG. May fall off this list by next update. Pure 1B.

Not that I’m a proponent for using this to replace journalists, but they might just have to consider verbally spewing all of this stuff into a speech to text tool, and then use ChatGPT or something to summarize it for them, then the editor can just go and see if it gets across the important info.

Absolutely

old school way would be some kind of template, bullet points and just stick to it

new school, use AI lol

Vlad's wRC+ is up to 139. Managing to do that with a .131 ISO. Excellent walk to strikeout rate.

Just so weird that he's having like a early Freddie Freeman, prime Mark Grace season at the plate.
