Jake Lamb still plays baseball?

Still kicking around yeah though I'm not sure what he does quite qualifies as playing baseball. He's been utter garbage since 2018.

The perfect Pirate. Surprised Colorado didn't get him.

I really hope that Espinal continuing to be with our starting player lineup is just to showcase him to move him, and not because he is in consideration as part of a 2b platoon...

Yeah

I want to see Schneider getting most of the 2B reps

Based on the current roster, it looks like DS will be in LF and Espinal at 2B against lefties. Against righties will probably be a mix and match between DS and Biggio. Like I said before I’m not sure it’s a sure thing to pencil in DS as the starting 2B. Lots of people in the org love Biggio.

This is true, but that is why it's actually going to lead to 3B being more of a Biggio/IKF platoon than IKF being THE 3B as most on this board seem to believe at the moment.

Lukes hit .366 last year? How many games did he play

He hit .366 in Buffalo.

With the Jays he hit .192 over 31 PA in 29 games.

I wonder why Varsho isn't a better base stealer considering his speed and instincts out there.

Short limbs. Plus base-stealing seems to be an entirely different skillset. One thing I noticed though is that Varsho usually slides feet-first. All the best base stealers go head first.

Also, he doesn't get on base enough to steal 40+ bags.

Ya I always noticed sliding problem but I'd assume it's something the Jays would try to work on with him. We don't really have much of the basestealing dynamic on this team otherwise and God knows we can use more contribution from him offensively in any way he can. He's blessed with great speed and is a smart base runner, he should be able to translate that into 30+ base steals, especially with the bigger bases now.

He must not have amazing acceleration

His sprint speed, 70th percentile, is not as high as you'd expect for an elite CFer

Schneider coming in as a defensive replacement for Espinal on Feb 26th is.... odd.

They either want to evaluate his defense some more, or they just want to give him more reps out there.

Espinal already got his 3 PAs for the day so he was likely done regardless.

The pitching has looked to be in great shape this game. Romano was the only one that was a bit wild but the fastball had some zip to it already, he was overpowering.

In classic Yimi fashion he gives up an absolute bomb out of nowhere. What a swing from Termarr Johnson, turned around 96 at the letters like it was nothing. 19 years old and won't turn 20 until June.
