connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 The inferior BA has Detmers ranked 192, dipshit. Fantrax is preseason still. Curious here if using the R word would get me banned, and if it would be worth it to get out some popcorn out and watch L54 and BTS get a few more rounds in. I’ll resist the temptation though.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 I remember getting into an argument with you a couple years ago about who was the better dynasty asset between him and Story. Sadly the answer kind of seems like neither. I traded Correa for Story in the LOD a couple years ago, and then last summer traded Story back for Correa again haha. I remember both times making those deal, they were heavily questioned on my end. I probably still take Correa in dynasty given his higher OBP skills and since he's still just 29. Story did offer some more pop and SB's though lacked the OBP skills so in leagues like the LOD, he wasn't as valuable as in regular 5x5 leagues. Plus he likely more was a product of Coors Field more than anything.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Jackson Holliday not even in the line-up today He's out with performance anxiety
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Yeah, that's when you were cheating and stashing players on your *SON's* team... Shocking.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Man, for all the off season smack talk everyone did, especially against the Yankees, hasn’t been a good first 15. Last place. Yanks doing just fine

Yanks doing just fine Still early but yeah sucks the Yankees have been on a roll like they have in the early part of the season. All the smack talk on here against the Yankees during the offseason on how they would be awful show you some people on here wear blinders when it comes to baseball and the Blue Jays.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Man, for all the off season smack talk everyone did, especially against the Yankees, hasn’t been a good first 15. Last place. Yanks doing just fine Everyone? I said the Yanks would make big moves and be a lot better. I said same about BoSox but they were quieter than I thought. The Rays and O's are both solid. I still think the BoSox are a .500 ish team. Yanks were projected to Win 94 before they lost Cole. We are last in the D and our offence is 20th or lower in runs and most categories. 9% of the season is all thats been played. Yimi has been stud. Ride the hot hand. Green finding himself. Mayza last outing better. Richards solid. JT has a 202 wRC+. He is going to regress a long way down towards his projection, but still valuable. Berrios, Kooch and Hound all look on track now after their last start. Gausman is a concern. Yariel debut exceeded expectations. Biggio has a 150 wRC+. Ride that as long as it lasts. Davis making s*** happen every time he plays and running into walls. Romano & Swanson on their way back. They don't look great yet but building up still. Jano is coming back. Varsho has hit HRs in back to back games. Favorite target IFK hasn't been the problem. He is playing plus D and he has a 145 wRC+ which is about twice his career number. The regression down towards career 82 won't near as fun. All said and done he will be 1-2 WAR player on his 2/15. We are right back to where we started. Which is an issue. As Vlad, Bo, Springer, Kirk go, so we go. So far, they haven't. Time will tell.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Yeah I don't really care about the standings right now at all. Blue Jays sit 7-8 and in last place in the AL East doesn't mean much or if anything. They've held their own despite some injuries and lineup struggles. Rotation looks like it's coming into its own with Berrios, Bassitt and Kikuchi building off their strong 2023 seasons. I really think Yariel could come in and be a valuable piece at the backend. Gausman is the real concern and the Jays need him to return to pitching at an elite level like in 2022/2023. Hopefully it's not an injury or anything and it's just because he wasn't built up enough during ST. Bullpen has been rock solid and will get stronger when Romano and Swanson get back. You can't expect Garcia to pitch like he has all season long, but definitely ride his hot arm over the next couple of weeks. Green has been encouraging. Lineup is still the main issue. Guys like Springer, Bo, Vladdy and Kirk have been huge disappointments. Getting Jansen back will be a huge plus, lineup really needs his power. IKF has been a pleasant surprise actually, but any rational baseball mind knows regression offensively is coming. Still looks like he will be a 1.5 - 2 WAR guy when all is said and done. Turner has been real solid but regression is coming, though he'll still be a reliable bat in this lineup. Biggio I think can be a 15-20 HR bat with 15-20 SB's and post a high .700 OPS or low .800 OPS as a platoon bat. Schneider needs to play more often. Seems like every time he's on the field, good things happen.
wamco Verified Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Curious here if using the R word would get me banned That is an excellent and fair question to be asked
wamco Verified Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Here's a simple idea. Just remove that word from your vocabulary. I mean, you can continue to use that word and try to put it in some context that you think is acceptable, but it's inevitable that some may not see that context, or may not care what context it's used in and will take offense to it. I don't think it's such a powerful word that you NEED to continue using it. Some seem hellbent on "saving" words that they used to use - simply because they don't want people who are offended by those words to "win". It's a stupid fight. It doesn't take a lot of effort to just stop using words that offend people. It's a minor inconvenience when you think of all the suppression of certain groups over the past 50-80 years. Evolution of our society is a good thing.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Long season. With 3 WC, it takes a lot to not be in it. But I’ll bet there’s regressing to the mean in different directions at different times and they stay not too far from .500 for quite a bit. We’ll see
wamco Verified Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Can you just let this freaking go? Use other words. I've never been banned on this board in 11 years and the one time I was warned about being banned was for using that word. There are million other insulting descriptive words you can use. Move on man. This is not hard or a high bar. We are on the same side homie.

We’ll see Yeah this Jays team is likely an 85-88 win team with the current roster so a borderline WC team again. Said it even during the offseason.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 We are on the same side homie. This seems like a fake problem because people don’t really use the r-word on this forum, but if you see it use the report function and it will probably be deleted. Which is how it’s been handled for years now. I don’t mean go looking for instances months/years ago
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 That's insane. It's kind of nonsense. I don't love it.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 That's kind of awesome! We need more creativity like that. Makes things more interesting. I can't imagine most pitchers would be able to maintain velocity and location doing that too often though.

It makes him fun to watch.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 NYY just has an unquantifiable advantage going for them. It doesn’t work as an absolute, like “Yankee Magic” and it’s not going to something you can just always count on. But something with bringing out the best in players sometimes. Being in the spotlight, soaking in the history, etc. It begs the question, could Vlad’s career taken a different path. Having aggressive NY dudes yelling some unflattering thing and seeing Vladdy the Bum, on the back cover of the Post. Would he crumble like or cookie, or work harder?

Receipts you dingleberries, I find it highly unlikely that people talked smack against the Yankees after they traded for SOTO and signed an albeit high risk SP... this is just fabricated horseshit you guys have conjured up in your feeble minds. RECEIPTS.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 That's insane. It's kind of nonsense. I don't love it. Reminds me of mens slow pitch softball where the pitchers do the constant pump fakes.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Can the Yankees just go and f*** their hats already? Why does an AL East team have to set the world on fire at the start of every season, and why is it never the Jays??
