jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 I don't think anyone outside the org even knew he was hurt. Last we saw him he was mowing down the Mariners. Yeah he looked really good in his first two starts this season. Definitely a shocker.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Holy f*** In his FA year too, that's rough.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Pirates and Tigers are winning the Central, bro. That would definitely be cool. Blue Jays/Tigers series would be great in the Postseason!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Hopefully the news is good regarding Spencer Strider when his MRI results come back. Would suck to learn on the same day that both him and Bieber have to get TJS.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 (edited) Arm injuries have to be at an all-time high right? I'm going to blame the rise of bio-mechanics dorks who specialize in giving pitchers an extra couple hundred rpm on their breaking balls and a tick or two on their fastballs. Eury Perez Spencer Strider Gerrit Cole Shane Bieber That's so much talent to go on the shelf long-term in like a 6-week stretch.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Mods. Why so defensive? I didn't say there is anything wrong with it or disparage it in any way. I'm only saying that in every relationship there is a giver and a receiver, and on the whole, a relationship between the AL Central teams and AL East teams the Central teams would very likely be the receivers, in a similar fashion as you are. This is all just common knowledge (or at least I thought) nothing to get bent out of shape about. My apologies if you took it the wrong way. I mean if anyone should be on the defensive it would be me, as a result of your unproved attack calling me a "tool" IIRC, but I tend not to worry about such things, as I realize I must have hurt your feelings by pointing out the obvious fact that AL Central teams (again, on the whole) are much weaker than AL East teams and (on the whole) don't impress me as much as they seem to impress you.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Luis Robert Hip Flexor Strain, same injury as '21... he played 68 games that season. Oof...

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Luis Robert Hip Flexor Strain, same injury as '21... he played 68 games that season. Oof... CHISOX sure missed their window. I caught a spring training game in AZ two + weeks ago. Mike Soroka gave my kids 18U team a personal tour of their ST facilities and introduced them to Moncada and some others. Then we went to the ChiSox vs A's ST game. They should have paid us to watch that. f*** they are both bad. Sit anywhere you want! Also caught an ASU game. That was awesome.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Right on, kids must have loved that experience. Ya, they did for sure. Team treated them all well. Shot of him. Hudson in the white. We missed Soroka's ST start as the boys were playing a game down there at that time, but he still gave them a lot of his time.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 ONeill is the one off-season move that it's fair to say the Jays should have done Sox traded nothing really for him and he only makes $5.8M Oneill over Keirmaier any day

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Teoscar Hernandez has 14 RBI already He has more hits than Springer, Varsho and Kiermaier have COMBINED f*** our outfield Springer's been alright, not worried about him.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Oneill over Keirmaier any day Really? The guy's been a dumpster fire every single season outside of 2021 (when he was great, with a really high BABIP)
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Lmao you're such a tool. Cleveland actually has a very solid rotation - Bieber, Bibee, McKenzie, Allen and Williams (when he gets back). Heck, you can even argue it's a better rotation than the Blue Jays both in the short and long term lol. Give me those arms any day over the Jays aging arms! Cleveland also has a very solid BP. Lineup wise, lacks power and punch but heck at least their star players like J-Ram actually are reliable unlike some of the star players on the Jays. Tigers look like a team on the upswing. Have some nice arms in Skubal, Olson and Mize. Bullpen isn't that bad. Lineup has some holes, but some intriguing young pieces. Royals have a lot of solid young positional players. Bobby Witt Jr. looks like an AL MVP in the making. They have some nice young arms like Ragans, Marsh and Singer. They went out and added some vets this past offseason on short term deals like Wacha and Lugo for the rotation, Smith and Anderson for the BP and Renfroe and Frazier to their lineup. These aren't a bunch of crappy teams like you're suggesting. They definitely will be fun to watch this season and as a baseball fan looking forward to it. Sad to see that Tork looks like he's joining Mize as the latest #1 overall bust. Tigers must feel like Jays with Vlad to some extent. Still hope for Riley Greene, but Baez is a disaster and I'm not seeing much else in their lineup except Carpenter. Colt Keith might be something I guess? Maybe Gio Urshela and Mark Canha can carry them to the playoffs? Imagine taking Mize and Tork 1st overall and them turning out like this. Sad.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Really? The guy's been a dumpster fire every single season outside of 2021 (when he was great, with a really high BABIP) True, but Oneill at least has the upside to put together a great season. KK ain’t getting any better, plus he cost more, plus i’d rather use Varsho in CF
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 Really? The guy's been a dumpster fire every single season outside of 2021 (when he was great, with a really high BABIP) I think the Jays were better off rolling the dice on a player with more offensive upside, even if it meant a bit more risk. KK is definitely a nice player to have around, but this team would have benefited more having a player with some extra pop. Given KK's age, lack of offensive upside and likely decline, I wouldn't have been stressing if the Jays signed a corner OF with pop who could provide around 2 WAR versus the 2.8 WAR KK provided last year which was going to be tough to replicate anyways given the reasons I just mentioned. Jays had Varsho anyways who could have played CF.

Donny baseball and the rest of the morons can't coach for s***.

You and several others have been complaining for over a year now that the hitting coaches on this team are trash and should be fired. They haven't been, so why would you expect Tyler O'Neill to be able to turn his career around in Toronto when almost every player on our team is getting worse under this regime?
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
