It’s actually not that controversial. Most states have laws that get much worse as you start going under 12. If he molested a kid 1 million percent I’d hope he fried, much less never played baseball again. 21yo (which he was) you’re still capable of making stupid decisions that you wouldn’t make at 35. Biggio is probably something like a 40-45 hit tool but might play a little higher than that after the mid season swing overhaul vs something like 65 or thereabouts for Brantley. Raw power is likely similar in that Biggio has a lower average exit velocity but their maximums are pretty similar, each seemed to have similar levels of plate discipline so hit tool aside I don't think they are necessarily that different in the rest of the tool set.

The action truly doesn't matter, the reaction does. The behaviour of both DeShawn and Wander are terrible. The Rays and MLB gave Wander a set of rules (and a shitload of money), Wander knew the rules quite obviously and made a choice. I said the same thing when the Bauer stuff happened. Athletes need to protect themselves and make adult decisions. If you don't your livelihood is on the line.

 

Your son is 21, he bangs the 14 year old daughter of his boss and gets arrested and fired. The he's a dumb 21 year old might actually get him away from the criminal charges. But you can't expect that boss is bringing him back. You can't expect the friends are family to laugh it off. It's going to affect your future, how people view you, and everyone that hears about it are going to judge you. In the baseball sense, those angry friends and family are now going to every job interview your son ever has, and going to cost the company money.

 

You may be right about the different leagues having less impact from player terrible behaviour, but we know this from steroids, we know this from trash cans, we know this from every f***ing intro to big baseball game, baseball is put on an "Americas Game" pedstal and you have to understand that when you sign the contract to play the game.
