To be fair, they probably only have time to look at one angle in slow motion once before the manager has to make a decision. I suspect Snyder is just more aggressive on challenging the close calls, especially when it's late and there's not much to lose by doing so.

But you also need to look at the situation. It was gonna be runner on 2nd and 1B open with Devers up. You probably walk him anyways so wtf are u really challenging here?

You don't walk him in that situation. That would be a terrible idea.

Disagree... you walk Devers if 1B is open almost every time. He is the 1 bat you don't let hurt you if avoidable.

You never, ever put the tying run on base for free late in the game, especially with less than 2 outs and a left on left matchup. You make them earn it.

It's a 2 run game with 1 out in the 7th, you don't give free bases with a hard throwing lefty on the mound. No bueno man.

How this needs to be explained is baffling.

Barry bonds hitting with runner on 3rd and 1 out up by 2?

Ya thats where I was going with this. Obviously Devers isn't Bonds but he is the Bonds of that lineup. The drop-off from him to the next best hitter is massive and that's why you sometimes have to throw away baseball 101 stuff.

f***ing Chapman, swings at everything high and just out of the strike zone every time!

Then gets behind and can’t pull the trigger on a hittable pitch!

No loss from the bat with the guy gone as free agent!!!

You're wrong man, 2 outs and noone on, sure... you don't put the winning run at the plate with one out, ever.

Almost everyones been doing it with Ohtani this year too when it matters. Pretty sure we did multiple times.

We're not saying you never intentionally walk him, you just don't put the tying run on base and winning run at the plate for free late in the game. In other situations that come up, you absolutely walk him. With regards to the original Bonds analogy, I guess if it was like Bonds followed by a pitcher with no one left on the bench, maybe you'd do it? That's certainly not the situation with Devers followed by Duvall though.
