I get the trade at the time, Jays needed a depth SP, pronto, but it turned out to be poo. s*** Happens, man.

 

This just goes to show how much other damage can happen when not having depth in your system. Atkins is always in a position of weakness, needing to overpay to get things done. This is a direct result of not building quality depth in his eighth year.

The dude is legitimately raking right now. I get that you can't stand to give him even the slightest iota of credit when he's going good but he is barreling up baseballs with surprising regularity. With Belt out right now it's the perfect time for the team to take advantage of the current hot streak, and when he cools off he can go back to his typical bench role.
