Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 https://www.mlb.com/draft/2023/order Looks like the Jays will pick 20th overall in round one, and then not again until 89th overall in round three.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 We lost the second because we signed Bassitt right?
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2023 Author Posted April 29, 2023 We lost the second because we signed Bassitt right? Correct, forfeited our second rounder and 500k from our international bonus pool.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 Hope he gets drafted. Africa is such an underrepresetned area where baseball could absolutely thrive
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Jays need Outfield propects maybe this is the year to snag one lol Bryce Eldridge kinda jumped out for me at our pick as two-way talent. 6'8 frame and tons of lefty power.

That seems too tall IMO and more likely to have injury issues. Or he could be lefty Aaron Judge
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 He probably should go #1, but it will be Crews
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 He probably should go #1, but it will be Crews Probably. But f*** pitchers.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Jonah Cox from Oral Roberts (yes Cox from Oral) has a 47 game hit streak leading into the CWS. He has hits in 62 of their 63 games. .420/.480/.690

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Always good to hear about a Cox having a great experience with Oral.

If Australians cared about baseball they would completely take over the sport. Next level athletes. Africa has fast athletes but soy string bean genetics.

String beans with long lean muscles translate very well to baseball skills. It’s one sport where full bulky muscle structures, in the upper half at least, don’t necessarily give an advantage and especially for pitchers can be a detriment.

In the Caribbean, I think before there were baseball factories, they used modified milk cartons for gloves. They’d have to do something similar
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2023 Author Posted June 19, 2023 At the bottom of the article there are links to a series of similar writeups on prospects who may be options at #20.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Will be sad when his arm detaches from his body and ends up in the 5th row during a pitch one day.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I still think if Waldrep is there, the Jays probably take him
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I cant recall a draft where I've been less excited to see what happens. Usually its a pretty pumped up time of year but ... this year just seems so dull for some reason.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Really? There is a ton of great talent. Better than last season imo It’s probably just the fact they only have 2 picks in the top 89, whereas Seattle has 5 in the top 92, and 3 in the top 30. I’m not overly excited to see the Jays crappy bonus pool they can’t do very much with
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
