Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 His pitches didn’t have much movement tonight Probably a direct result of being overworked. He has just pitched so much.
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 I don't get why John decided to pull Berrios when his pitch count was at only 77. He falls in love with our bullpens.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 These are the games that later in the season don’t show the pen blowing it, because we never had the lead. However, a game where we lost the ability to win due to the pen.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 This was probably going to be an L anyway with how the last inning ended, but the pen imploding here is poetic justice. I won't entirely blame Schneider because this seems like a Blue Jays issue more than an individual, but just an awful move to pull Berrios on 77 pitches when he was doing so well. The pen has already been overworked this season and the team was trailing, so what benefit was there to a switch? I don't get it, but whatever. They'll keep doing this all season so can't get worked up about it (except when he does it to Gausman in a playoff game....but we'll cross that bridge later).
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Jays gonna score 2-3 runs now just to tease
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Idk why Pearson is rotting in AAA That move needs to be made now. Pearson looks great and most importantly his command has been much better.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Im confused why we used Pop to start the inning in the first place. Its a 1 run game, you use your best guys. Especially with the offday tomorrow. Pop is like 5th or 6th best guy in the pen and they’ve mostly been using him early in games/mop up duty.
Jarry Verified Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Bring up the minor guy that throws 100 mph
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 We would've won this game if our cleanup batter didn't s*** the bed and turned the game around.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Meh. Yankees win. This series against Bronx is going to be fun. Baltimore winning too.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Astros bullpen throwing gas 99 mph. Jays with pop and Cimber I mean Pop's throwing mid 90's with movement. Not really a fair comparison. I think he needs to lose the sinker and turn that into a 2-seamer. Get the movement going side to side instead of down. That slider can go strike to ball down.

Someone revive the Fire John Schneider thread.
Jarry Verified Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 The feeble pen is going to get overworked . Call Pearson asap

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Someone revive the Fire John Schneider thread. Puzzling moves tonight. Pinch running for Kirk was the only good move
Jarry Verified Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 This is why they hired Mattingly. To replace Schneider if he falters early. He's faltering badly.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Someone get the lights on your way out. See ya in the Bronx.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Seemed like Swanson's spot to me. Agreed. He was warming too.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 That move needs to be made now. Pearson looks great and most importantly his command has been much better. 4BB's in 6 innings? I know he's getting his strikeouts, not enough of a workload to say one way or another. Go ahead and bring him up, can't hurt, but I'm not expecting miracles from him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 That move needs to be made now. Pearson looks great and most importantly his command has been much better. Another clean inning tonight with a K.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 We choked with bases loaded. Time to go bash the Yankees.

Jarry Verified Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 They needed to get to or three swanson like relievers. Cimber inspires no confidence at all
Masterbather Verified Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 2 of those walks were in 0.2 IP awhile ago. He's been mostly Ks and weak contact since then. Like I said it can't hurt. I'm for it. But he's always been a hit and miss type of pitcher and I put him in the category of hope for the best but don't get your hopes up that he's going to be a major solution for us.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Good God, it was 2-1, bases loaded with nine out after the Lukes walk, then I went to the gym for 30 minutes. I come back it’s 8-1. Wtf just happened?

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Astros scored and we didn’t. Bad bullpen showed up. FFS…Pop and Cimber all with 2 outs?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 FFS…Pop and Cimber all with 2 outs? Abreu bloop/weak hit, Tucker strong liner hit, then Pena homer off Cimber. All with 2 outs yes.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
