jaysthebest Verified Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 So basically the Jays have replaced Stripling with Bassitt and didn't make any adjustments right? Koochi and Berrios are still unwatchable.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Professional ball player right here. You should be a coach or something I played enough ball, especially in the outfield to know a few things at least. What can you offer to the conversation? The cock sucking thread is in the general forum.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Kikuchi has 10 swings and misses on 72 pitches and only one walk. His only real mistake to me was the Renfroe pitch, Ohtani just did unicorn things to him. I’m honestly more impressed and encouraged with this start than the Kansas City one by a mile, brutal scoreline aside. He still just misses wildly every now and then with his fastball, but the slider has been sharp, low and inside to righties has been killer this game.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Sure, if its in and out of the sun that helps, but if it falls directly into the sun staggering or holding your glove up does nothing Maybe someone should’ve told Varsho to use his glove so he could block both his view of the sun and the ball at the same time. So tell me why you're assuming that the ball lined up directly into the sun? Do you know this for a fact? Did Varsho text you guys while he was in the dugout? Bottom line is that he didn't put up his glove once to help shield the sun.
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 TBH all that matters are that Kikuchi gave up 5 ER and 7 hits.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 TBH all that matters are that Kikuchi gave up 5 ER and 7 hits. Sun aided ball didn't help. But Kikuchi was still s***. Point blank peroid.

I don’t know, maybe giving benefit of the doubt to one of the best outfielder defenders in the game over the guy sitting on his couch criticizing his technique, as if you know any better.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Another ball absolutely f***ing destroyed.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Sun aided ball didn't help. But Kikuchi was still s***. Point blank peroid. I really don’t think Kikuchi has been that bad up to this point. The sun aided ball also cost him 10+ pitches, one of which was the awful one to Renfroe that I think by far was his worst today. He’s only given up three hit balls over 100+ mph, one of which was Othani turning on an inside breaking ball to drive it opposite field 400 feet.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 That sucked. For sure. But its sun. I’m going to cut him so slack given the other plays he is making and the Teo and LGJ OF clown show we watched. It’s KiKuchi who gave up 2 bombs failing to pick him up, and we still don’t have a run off this tough LHP. I'm not ragging on Varsho, I love him so far as a player. I agree that he 10x better than the s*** we had. It's just frustrating that he didn't exhaust all means, that's all.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Man, the rotation outside Gausman has been complete ass cheeks
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Lets give them a 10 run lead before using our bullpen... Montoyo style

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Man, the rotation outside Gausman has been complete ass cheeks Yep. Manoah looks like a #3/4.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Don't worry they're still good enough to beat the Kansas city royals' of the world. Just don't expect them to beat good teams consistently.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Yep. Manoah looks like a #3/4. Realistically Manoah on a championship team should be a number three or four. He's not a big strikeout guy and he doesn't have an out pitch to lefties. He's good but people got unrealistic expectations based on last year.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 The problem is, there is no room in the rotation unless someone gets injured. Maybe a new PC can conjure some spells but doubt it.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Jansen has been swinging an absolute pool noodle early in the season. Little concerning, given that he’s previously also lost all ability to hit before.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Given how mediocre the rotation has been overall, a 5-5 road trip to start the season is not a bad outcome. Glass half full.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Like nobody should effortlessly hit that breaking ball at eye level as a rocket up the middle.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 10 years 600m range for Ohtani would be my guess.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Given how mediocre the rotation has been overall, a 5-5 road trip to start the season is not a bad outcome. Glass half full. Yeah easily could have been worse with the pitching we had. A good 6/10 starts were legit awful. Needs to be better going forward or its gonna be a struggle all year to stay in a playoff spot.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Pop’s arm is gonna fall off with this usage.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Vlad saves one. Every times he does those splits I cringe.

If you read my comment I clearly said "if" I was simply providing a possible explanation rather than getting worked up about it
