BTS Community Moderator Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Hector Gomez. Jays players available in Soto Trade talks: Biggio, Varsho, O Martinez, Ricky T Jays want Soto and other players I wonder what other players we want. Not a whole lot else there that isn't attached to a massive salary. Grisham as a 4th OF?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 If they trade Varsho who is going to play CF?
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Im still down for Chappy as well, but theres just so much value with Donaldson at 5million. Mend the relationship....

Grisham as a 4th OF? Kim? Only 1 year remaining so not really a longterm piece for the Padres. Could be our 3B next year. Would allow us to ease in Orelvis. If Orelvis takes off Kim can slide over to 2B.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Hector Gomez The San Diego Padres are very pleased with the players offered by Toronto, but the Blue Jays want more than Juan Soto.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Kim makes sense for both sides. He's good but he's only got 1 year left so I doubt he's untouchable for the Padres. On top of it they could slide Cronenworth over to 2B and then sign a cheap 1B with some pop like Votto, Justin Turner, etc. Or maybe take Horowitz back in a deal.

Either him or Soto would have to come with an extension. No way the team dumps the prospect capital it would take for both only have both leave in the offseason.

No way the team dumps the prospect capital it would take for both only have both leave in the offseason. I don't know how much prospect capital it would actually take. Soto is damn good but he's projected to get 30 million in arbitration. Kim is also good but a lot of his value is tied up in defense and that tends to hold less weight in the market. I know this site isn't the end all be all but...
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Trade for both Machado and Soto!
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Speaking of idiots. You think management/coaches should be fired if they don't get Ohtani? Lol nice. And no, getting Ohtani doesnt make or break them. What breaks them is we've yet to win a damn playoff game in their era so if we fail to win a playoff series this year, they should be out the door. They've had enough time/resources to get s*** done and so far they've been a big let down. The product on the field hasn't gotten it done while our "waves of talent" is severely lacking in the farm system.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Yammamoto is going to be a Yankee i think...
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 (edited) If they trade Varsho who is going to play CF? Kiermaier baby. I actually want him back and like him better than Varsho anyways lol. Edited December 6, 2023 by Jays24
Rimar Verified Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 We should add Kirk to the package for Soto, and ask Ethan Salas to be added, so Adkins will fix Gabriel Moreno trade mistake.😉
Rimar Verified Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Yes, but if we don't convince Ohtani to sign here, Bellinger will be more useful.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Yes, but if we don't convince Ohtani to sign here, Bellinger will be more useful. Bellinger the player yes but Bellinger at his rumored deal? Hell nah lol.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Yammamoto is going to be a Yankee i think... He isn't listening to $240M wants $300M and won't decide until Shohei signs. Dodgers back up plan
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Between him and Immimaga i'd probably go cheap and go with the southpaw
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 The key to a Padres deal will also be cash. The only way to keep RT out of there will be by taking on an albatross contract like Cronos. You do that all day everyday to get Soto, especially since Crono can play 1b and 2b. I would like to see Vlad go the other way. We can’t have everything though..

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Soto, Cronen, and Musgrove Marlins style blockbuster I'm all in if we can avoid a follow up Dickey like trade. Although we already did a Dickley like trade last year by trading Moreno/Gurriel for Varsho lol.

Although we already did a Dickley like trade last year by trading Moreno/Gurriel for Varsho lol. As long as Joe Musgrove doesn't turn into Josh Johnson and Cronenworth bounces back to be a 2-3 WAR player. Also, have to hope Soto has a 5-6 WAR season again in his one season here. Otherwise it's no different than the 2013 Marlins trade.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Soto, Cronen, and Musgrove Marlins style blockbuster I don't see them moving Musgrove.....
itaos Verified Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Musgrove ended the season with a shoulder injury so it really could be like the Marlins trade
