TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Man it feels like 6-4 shouldn’t be that hard I try to think of what is the most 2023 Jays thing to happen. The one that pops into my head most is following that 5 game win streak with a 4 game losing streak (1 down), followed by a 5 game winning streak and being 1 up with 1 to play...losing but Seattle also loses to backdoor the Jays in.

hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 What does the Vlad story have to do Manoah? what do you mean? what vlady story?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 what do you mean? what vlady story? lol... you mentioned Manoah and an inflammation shot right after the Vlad tweet, I believe that's what he's asking about. He's talking about this Captain... https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/blue-jays-alek-manoah-receives-right-arm-injections-season-officially-ends/

The most Jays thing ever would be if we ended up tied with both Seattle and Texas on the final day. And the final game with Tex/Sea is some crazy comeback in the 9th inning.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 The most Shatkins era Jays thing would definitely involve missing the playoffs. It probably looks like this: - Losing streak right now, hope is lost - Mini win streak into final day, hope is back - Lose on final day of season to end up tied with SEA/TEX and miss the playoffs on a tie breaker - In final game, Yimi Garcia gives up 2 runs in the 6th inning - In final game, Vlad bounces into a clutch double play - In final game, some extremely mediocre RHP absolutely carves the Jays and makes them look like a AAA team

With both players underperforming and being fat as well, I thought hanton confused the two.

Jays lose... BUT: Jays, Houston are tied Jays have tie breaker over Houston it is 5:58 pm on Sunday October 1st. Seattle Texas still playing. Texas 1/2 game up on everyone, Seattle 1/2 game behing... at 5:58. Wait. What if it is a 4 way tie? Jays have tie breaker over Houston but who does Houston have tie breakers over? Can they get tie breaker over Seattle if they win the next series? Let's assume they can and do. Texas leading 5-3. If Texas wins all is OK and no tie breakers needed. It is 6:11 now. All is looking OK. Bottom of the 9th in Seattle two guys get on... J-Rod comes up. OH NO. Julio Rodriguez. Fit, happy, healthy. Good nutrition. Performing as a super star should. 6.5 WAR. Signed for 15 years. A city looks on in hope... and... JULIO does it. 3 RUN homerun. Mariners move into 4 way tie! Call comissioners office. Jays have tie breaker over Houston, so get in right? But Houston has tie breaker over Texas. So Houston has to get in. But Texas has tie breaker over Toronto. Now the day previous this was anticipated so they figured it all out that somehow even though Toronto has a hard earned tie breaker over Houston, Houston tie breaker over texas brings it to divisional record or something and.... So sad, so sad. Congruatulations to the Houston Astros, the Texas Rangers, and the Seattle Mariners for making the 2023 MLB playoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the chances of getting swept in Tampa are pretty high. They are a great home team and the Jays never win there anyway. If the Jays take 1/3, we should probably be happy with that. A 3-3 road trip in NY and Tampa would be a positive in my eyes. Then try to go 4-2 at home. I think 90 wins gets in, but 5-4 with 6 left against Tampa and 2 of the others being against Cole and King is a pretty daunting task.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Enjoy the ride. There have been lots of years where games in September have meant nothing to this team

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 I find Jays lineups are almost always released later than other teams, both with Montoyo and now Schenider Rays lineup is out for tonight but not ours
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Rays lineup for tonight Yandy Diaz ® 1B Randy Arozarena ® LF Josh Lowe (L) CF Harold Ramirez ® RF Isaac Paredes ® 2B Curtis Mead ® 3B Jonathan Aranda (L) DH Osleivis Basabe ® SS Rene Pinto ® C So no Junior Caminero yet

This is disgusting. Why the f*** is Espinal in there against Glasnow? KK not 100%!?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Might as well pencil Espinal in for 3K and a ground out right now
deanmike Verified Member Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 I see the Jays fetish for galaxy braining their lineup decisions to maximize their infield defense at the Trop is alive and well.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 What an ugly line up, pretty much a guaranteed loss. No KK, Horwitz and Schneider. f***ing disgusting.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 There is literally no argument for playing Espinal over Schneider. Like, Schneider would need a broken leg for that to make sense. Schneide vs "power" pitchers: .308/.400/.808 (small sample size! lul) Espinal vs "power" pitchers: .262/.329/.367
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Might as well pencil Espinal in for 3K and a ground out right now 2-4 lifetime against Glasgow. Espy is LEGIT....
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Merrifield should be on the pine with Espinal. Just throw your best bats out there. Horwitz 1B, Biggio in a corner, Schneider 2B. for f***s sake gentlemen it's not that complicated Merrifield and Espinal will go 0-8 with no hard contact, I bet my balls
