Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Hoping Teo goes 0-4 with 4 Ks as the boos rain down on him and the Jays win 8 to nothing. You don't boo a player who plays great for several years and gets traded, that's silly
The_DH Verified Member Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 You don't boo a player who plays great for several years and gets traded, that's silly I don't think it will happen in a significant way, simply because most fans won't realize he used to be a Jay.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Right on, that's pretty damn sweet.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 You don't boo a player who plays great for several years and gets traded, that's silly He won't get boo'd, he was a solid bat in this lineup. I don't get what these people are saying in regards to most fans wouldn't know who he is, lol. It's quite the opposite.
Ray Verified Member Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Another example of Shapiro doing a fantastic job. A Family Room and good facilities may not seem that impactful on paper, but I bet it’s a real difference maker when trying to attract/retain talent. Between this, the PDC, and the Stadium upgrades, he’s done an amazing job bringing this org to the 21st century.

From the PDC in Dunedin, to their amenities, excellent job. Wholeheartedly agree.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Even the f***ing Bullpen's have lounges now lol
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 With Jordan Romano's second out, Blue Jays relievers completed an 18 strikeout 'Perfect Game'. The last runner to reach base was a HBP by Nate Pearson 9.1 innings ago and the last hit was against Adam Cimber 12.1 innings and 20 strikeouts ago.

Big part because the Starters have with Manoah actually being the most inconsistent thus far. Pitching deeper into games creates more ideal reliever rolls. And this is in spite of Scheneider being quick on the hook.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 200 level has taken precedent, 100 level seats going cheaper. Not surprised. Like 50 to 100 over sticker price. Mostly the latter.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Varsho finishes April with a 70 wRC+ and 0 fWAR. Its April but a lot of the takes on his trade had him sprouting a lot of offensive skills he has yet to display - even ZiPS was in on it. In the 3rd percentile in average EV and his D stats are down from '22 Hard not to like this player though for some reason. 5 months of season left - hope he can find it. They are busting him in and up. He is better than this.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Lots of players struggle when joining new teams. It's a well documented thing. He does seem to have issues with velocity and premium stuff, though. Bit like Biggio

We knew the D stats were a fairly significant outlier going into this, he's not the best defender in MLB, but the hope was that he would take some steps forward with the bat. I thought it was an awful trade from the beginning and still do, but I like the player and am obviously rooting for him to succeed.

Got any of that documentation to share? I’m curious.

I think most would have preferred Kirk or Jano go in the deal over Moreno, even though they are valuable players too now. AZ wanted more I’d guess or maybe our org saw more in the guys we kept. Nobody knows for certain.

Arizona wasn't going to part with Carroll. Thomas hasn't been hitting well either and McCarthy was just sent down. Who knows if any of those three were made available by Arizona.

Like others, Im just not sure about Kirks longevity.

I think he’ll be ok but he kinda looks like Biggio rn. Good at bats just can’t hit the 97+
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 I can't select Varsho anymore for the Blue Jays Home Run Contest. Maybe that's not a bad thing haha.

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Varsho is too much in his head, trying to 'outthink' the pitcher. Just needs to go back to instinct, might be worth to give him a less aggressive spot in the lineup so he can relax a bit.

They probably wanted Kirk for Alek Thomas and Toronto wasn't interested in Thomas.
