yea that's my take, I just don't care myself but it's her first game and she'll probably want. I have multiple jerseys, I don't need a Springer replica that I'll never wear.

Just buy her a poutine dog instead, while reminding her to save room for the hot beef injection after the game

You'll probably have to camp outside the stadium the night before.

This should guarantee getting one and being the first to use the restrooms inside the ballpark before everyone else.

Find an alcoholic and trade them two tallboys for their jersey

2 tall boys would cost more than what that jersey's worth!

One tallboy and a tug in the mens room?

I'd rather buy the bobblehead from someone on FB Marketplace or Kijiji for like $40-$50 in a couple of weeks or at the end of the season.

Probably closer to $100 but yeah waiting in line sucks

Yeah Pop's fastball is very similar to League's. They also have eerily similar mechanics and tempo, if my brain is remembering League correctly.

League had several very good years including some closer time later in his career, but he never got a lot of strikeouts and he had a few stinker seasons by ERA/FIP (probably due to not missing many bats and therefore being subject to batted ball and HR rate randomness).

League was a guy that would probably be a totally different guy with the analytics types. I don't know how he didn't have 15+k/9. Pop could build into that mold if he can do what the analytics call for.

I'm not so sure. The thing with these wicked looking sinkers is they are tough to command and the shape of the pitch causes them to not miss as many bats as you'd think. There are many modern relievers with power sinkers who underperform expectations.

Jordan Hicks, Brusdar Graterol, Jimmy Cordero... Jose Alvarado was horrible for several years... Joe Kelly, Gregory Soto...

Some INSANE arms here and many of them have had some great years but just like Pop and League when you look at the total baseball card you see lots of warts. Some high ERA years, some high walk rates, some low K rates.

I'm not a huge fan of the "power sinker" prototype. But, I don't mind having one of these dudes on the roster. Good for diversity.

Yeah, the power sinker profile is more contact oriented. It's just not much of a swing and miss pitch, so for that to be a dominant offering as a reliever, you're basically at the whim of the babip gods and uppercut swing hitters. That's not to say that they can't be usefull and cant get swings and misses, because they can, just not reliably. They might go one outing where they get 5 whiffs on 10 pitches to 3 hitters total, then not get another whiff for the next 10 hitters and give up 4 hits, 1 of which is a HR.

Some would say that could happen to any pitcher... well, yeah I guess, but when you miss bats consistently, you're far less susceptible to batted ball variance.

Here’s a disgusting stat from Chapman so far this season.

He’s off to an unreal start to the season but it could be even better. So far, he has 4 balls hit over 400 feet that have gone for outs.

In 2022 the MLB leader in 400+ foot outs over the entire season….had 4.

Nah, those prices are unrealistic. They won't be getting $100.

They said that on the broadcast yesterday. Pretty crazy.

That was a really cool moment. I've become a huge Kiermaier fan now that he's no longer playing for the Rays. It's so nice to see him doing stuff like turning softly hit singles into doubles, stealing home runs, making low probability running catches look easy etc.

Does anyone else feel like the team just doesn't like Vlad's ice bath show? It is like he is the little s*** from a rich family that no one wants to chastise. He is an fricken' amazing player but just like the home run jacket and Barrio it's time to move on.

Totally agree. I imagine he has been like this his whole career? Since he was "the enemy (plus taking the lineup card was pretty douchie)" I never heard about him doing these type of things. He is an all-star player but imagine if he had been playing in a big market his whole career? He would be a super-star if he played his entire time in Toronto or a few other major markets. His endorsements $ alone would be insane.

I do. And I said it before that I guarantee guys f***ing hate it because it will never be Vlad doing an interview so he’ll never have to wear it

I’d just refuse that after the game interview until it stopped. It’s so cringe

In 2015 I was at the Dome for a Rays series with my dad and brothers. We sat down RF line one game and were the only people in the area before the game and he came and shot the s*** with us for like 10 minutes. Completely unprompted just a cool dude

Vlad does interviews sometimes though? If he has a big game

The Os have frat chugging water for every HR.

The Mariners have a group rain dance and a f***ing cheap ass lookin Trident.

The Angels have a kabuto, the Guardians have a weird knight/spartan helmet.

Even the Yankees are rumored to be getting a HR celebration.

And you misers are annoyed about an ice bath at the end of the game that is of no consequence whatsoever, because of what you perceive of others' feeling coming across a television screen.

Yes and when he was interviewed last year, everyone loved drenching him in ice, in return. The two walk-offs by him, for example.

No. The interviews are after great games for the player and wins for the team. Everyone wants the ice bath, the team is having a lot of fun.

We are gonna go through one hell of a gauntlet for the next two months.

Mariners x 3

Red Sox x 4

Pirates x 3

Phillies x 2

Braves x 3

Yankees x 4

Orioles x 3

Rays x 4

Twins x 3

Brewers x 3

Mets x 3

Astros x 4

Twins x 3

Orioles x 3

Rangers x 3

Especially the bolded stretch of 11 games.

Unrelenting until Mid June. If we come out of it with a decent difference above .500, then the second half might probably be bliss.

Took my 3 grandsons and it was a life-changing event for them....or so it seemed. Would do it again with a huge smile.

But yes, if just me, yes Amazon.

And don’t forget Pittsburgh is now using the HR jacket. They contacted the Jays players and asked permission to use it this season

Nice! Glad they had a blast an enjoyed the game.

When I was younger as well, would go line up to get the bobbleheads they were giving away. Lineups weren't as bad back in the 2000s as they are now.
