saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Yes, he has 4 years and 158 days of service time. Cimber isn't going down anyways. It's been 10 innings. He's giving up 3 homers. Homers come in bunches and he could go 10 without giving one up. He's a change of pace guy. He's got a 1.2 WHIP and batters are batting .211 off him.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Something might be off with Cimber. His velocity is down so far this year.

He has seemingly had multiple outings where he has done nothing but give up line drives and hard flyballs He might need a phantom IL stint to find his form, at least
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Rest can only do so much. I'm just waiting to hear the "S" word. I wonder if we'll see Mitch White's being held back on purpose a little bit to work out at the complex/extended spring training. He's out of options, and was working on a new changeup as well. He hasn't been needed for the rotation yet this year, may as well bring him along as slowly as possible.

The team will do everything they can to keep Mitch White off this team as long as the injury bug doesn't bite.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 That was Buck Martinez being 100% wrong. shocking.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Pearson TO bound. Espinal DL or someone getting dfad
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Pearson TO bound. Full story with... about that same level of detail that Carlos provided.... Pearson is set to join the Blue Jays in Toronto on Monday and could be recalled from Triple-A Buffalo ahead of the big club's series opener versus the White Sox, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports. The Blue Jays appear to have abandoned developing Pearson as a starter due to injuries having cost him extensive time in each of the previous three seasons, but the power right-hander still possesses the type of premium velocity that could make him a major weapon near the back end of the bullpen. He's flashed that potential thus far at Buffalo, pitching to a 2.16 ERA and 16:5 K:BB across 8.1 innings over his eight appearances. Once he's formally activated, Pearson could start out in a lower-leverage role out of the bullpen, but it's not difficult to envision him emerging as one of the top setup men for closer Jordan Romano if he can stay healthy and keep his free passes in check.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Author Posted April 24, 2023 Still don't like the walks with Pearson but hopefully he can miss a ton of bats up here and it won't matter too much.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Espinal DL or someone getting dfad Has to be a pitcher transaction if a pitcher is coming up wouldnt it? cant carry more than 13 arms.
The_DH Verified Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Espinal DL or someone getting dfad He can only replace a pitcher. Even if Espinal goes on the IL, he can only be replaced by a batter. So a pitcher must be getting tossed.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 If Espy goes to the DL, we still need a backup SS. I wonder if they decide to bring Otto Lopez up for a week or two. I know he’s not doing well in AAA so far, but maybe this gives him an opportunity to hang with the MLB guys and clear his head a bit? Can’t really hurt his development…

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Author Posted April 24, 2023 Phantom injury in 3...2...
The_DH Verified Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Phantom injury in 3...2... That genuinely made me laugh.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Author Posted April 24, 2023 All time tweet Bass is mourning his online presence?
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Meh so not intrigued with Pearson, he better be getting low leverage innings. If he can walk that much in AAA it will only be worst here. I used to be so hyped for this kid.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Well that's great news. Please let Pearson stay healthy and be able to command his pitches. He could/should be the first domino to fall to make the Jays bullpen actually a lock it down bullpen. (The next domino would be Green coming back and still being good)
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Imagine a bullpen like this: Romano Green Pearson Kikuchi Swanson Garcia Mayza Pop/Richards With Tiedemann in the rotation. One can hope

One can hope I'd rather Kikuchi continue to excel as a starter, but I get what you are driving at there. Kikuchi was a stud in the pen late last season. The swing and miss in the bullpen you have there would be fun.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 There's no guarantee Green will even be back this year right? I think it's just hopeful, he had surgery in June so probably not back until July/August if everything goes well.

Or Tiedemann and Kikuchi in the rotation. 6 man rotation or Bassitt/Berrios going to the pen. Just need Tiedemann up.

At best they're gonna get 2 months + any playoff games out of Green. Lets also not forget Ryu is probably coming back along roughly the same timeline.

It's just introducing another wrinkle into the stable of arms. I really dont think a 6 man rotation is ideal... and if the rotation has sorted itself out AND is fully healthy, Ryu just doesn't fit anywhere. He'd basically be a 20 million dollar long man out of the pen.
