connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 They basically promoted it through their day time radio and tv shows, lol. Yeah, I mean they chose to think about young Timmy with his dad at the ball park all excited to see the mlb guy throwing a Bp and maybe tip his cap at the boy… …and not to think about drunk adult Rob calling the BP guys f-t’s lol
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Seems really odd that they had 13 games on the road to start the season and only back for 3 games before going out on the road again... Should have given them 2 or 3 series at home to build some momentum and keep the newly reno-ed stadium hype going.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 They basically promoted it through their day time radio and tv shows, lol. Yep, Shapiro was boasting about up and basically calling for fans to make it a competitive advantage for the Jays by roasting the opposition.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 It's like this in Boston too. Fans very close to the relievers warming up. It's in many parks, Brownie is soft.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Nah. I don’t think it was nefarious. It was probably to create a more engaging fan experience with a position of ignorance is bliss in terms of likely results A bleacher section open to the entire stadium right behind the opponent’s bullpen but not behind the home bullpen…. This was definitely intentional
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Yep, Shapiro was boasting about up and basically calling for fans to make it a competitive advantage for the Jays by roasting the opposition. Why not, banter is normal in other parks?
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 A bleacher section open to the entire stadium right behind the opponent’s bullpen but not behind the home bullpen…. This was definitely intentional Solid logic
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 A bleacher section open to the entire stadium right behind the opponent’s bullpen but not behind the home bullpen…. This was definitely intentional It's open to the fans on the Jays side. I can't wait to nail a seat for that section. Bucket list s***.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Solid logic But you couldn't find it. Boom!
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 But you couldn't find it. Boom! Actually I was going on him saying it wasn’t open on Jays side, wise ass lol
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Why not, banter is normal in other parks? I have no problem with it and agree it's a competitive advantage. I'm not the poster bitching about it. I like it. I'm all for getting in the heads of the opposition in hopes that it rattles them before coming into the game.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 This is embarrassing - next level douchiness. I hope they find a way to make that nonsense stop. I don’t see a problem
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 I don’t see a problem There isn't.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 There’s bleachers on both sides??? I thought it was only on the RF side Both... same on each side. It's my bucket list to watch these guys heat up.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Both... same on each side. I don’t think so… check the seating map. The LF seats are all normal numbered seats
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 I don’t think so… check the seating map. The LF seats are all normal numbered seats No, there's a first come first served in the pen area for 20. As I followed the photos and s***, plus the in game? Or am I out of wack!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Rogers sucks man... I've lost connection 4 times this Wkd.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 They kept it clean who cares? You don’t think these guys have heard worse lol? Yay or nay my deal so I can keep playing dominos:)
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 They kept it clean who cares? You don’t think these guys have heard worse lol? I just can't fathom being an adult and deciding - you know what I'm going to do that this baseball game? I'm going to to yell "OMG that was slow", "that was a ball" and "that's a walk baby" at guys in the bullpen and then laugh with my friends like I'm so clever and funny. Does this adult think he's actually giving the Blue Jays a competitive advantage with that incredible heckling? I sure hope not. Those chirps are f***ing embarrassingly s*****. If that's the best you've got - sit the f*** down and shut up. Nobody in your general vicinity wants to listen to you. And of course I think it's fair to say fans won't always keep it clean, because, well, humans suck. Now my 7 year old has to listen to some drunk ******* swearing at a reliver for no good reason (I guess in this adults head, he thinks he's giving the Jays this major advantage, but he's not - he's just making an ass out of himself). Now if you're Bobby Fairways and your heckling is funny - I'm cool with that. The fans will get a charge out of it (the pitchers may too), but this was SUPER cringy to me.

Don't sit behind the opposing team's bullpen then?? And IDK in my mind heckling is almost always enjoyable. I have fond memories as a kid attending a Jays vs Nats game and the guy near me was heckling the absolute s*** out of Zimmerman all game. And heckling the Yankees outfielders in the 100s. Its all good fun if its kept clean like in the video you posted.

Hopefully the Zimmerman heckler had better chirps than "you suck Zimmerman" and "you're crap". In my experience, that's the expected level of heckling I've experienced and it's embarrassing. And suggesting families only buy tickets in certain areas because some adult feels the need to yell and swear at some RP is f***ing stupid sir. That said, I suspect security is there to put an end to the hecklers if swearing or other inappropriate things are said (as they should). I'm sure it's not that bad. I think I just hate hecklers in general. I think they need to get a life. This type of crap is so cringy. Don't come to the stadium with the goal of yelling at players. Nobody wants to hear you (or very few people want to hear you).

As long as fans keep it clean it’s free game. Comes with the territory. Imagine what outfielders have to listen to at Yankee Stadium. Like if some 24 year old on Saturday afternoon wants to tell Colin Poche his fastball sucks ass why would we want to stop that?

There is nothing wrong with booing/heckling players or pitchers at ballparks. As long as it's done in a respectful way. For example, when I sat in the Wrigley Field bleachers, Cubs fans were heckling Nyjer Morgan in left field nonstop. It was hilarious. They were saying stuff like you're only hitting .240, nice socks etc. They even brought up that he should go back to play minor league hockey, which he did play before baseball haha. Even Nyjer Morgan was laughing and acknowledged the Cubs fans. It was all fun and they were respectful.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 If you think that was bad wait until the playoffs where people will actually throw drinks in there lol

But my douchebag meter must be set higher than you guys - I think you're a douche if your best chirp is to make fun of a guys socks, or to yell "that's another ball" at a pitcher warming up. Bring your A game and be funny, or STFU.
