From the good old days without domed stadiums. IMHO, eliminate that day off and add it to somewhere else in the schedule when it's more needed for rest. Hell, I would add a doubleheader in the first series of the season and the first one after the allstar break since players are well rested at this time, this would allow a cpl more rest days for the players. I would also allow teams to add a cpl more pitchers for the next five games after a double header so not to burn out a staff.

Yeah just put the off day at the END of the entire first series.

Game 1 - Game 2 - Game 3 - OFF DAY - rest of season

What are you new, man?! Opening Day is National Work can GTFO Day!

If it was in Toronto it would be at 7.

But yea I don’t exist in a world where work can GTFO lol. I could take one of those days but my food will GTFO as well.

Yeah, I was the same, but this day took precedence.

Here's a thought: does Kikuchi start the first game or two in the pen as long man? Keep his momentum.

they won't need a long man!

also, Kikuchi is pretty short tbh

But then Game 2 becomes the opener.

They do it this way so that people who bought tix for the opener still get to go to game 1 if there’s a cancellation.

I'm stuck at work but i'm going to throw it on the TV in my office. If anyone says anything they can GTFO!

I simply cannot overstate the benefits of a 100% work from home job.

Lucky bastard!

simply cannot overstate the benefits of being retired! :)

There are only 3 jobs I'd like more than the one I currently have, one of them is "retired". The other two are "the job I have, but it pays more money" and "going back to full time music".

I hope you enjoy every day of your well earned retirement!

Interesting they have Varsho 4 and Belt 6 and not the other way around. Maybe they don't want Varsho stuck behind the pace car on the bases?

Yup interesting choice. I was thinking the speed thing as well. Belt and Kirk are clearly the slowest runners

That sounds right, that's probably the logic. Hopefully protecting Vlad and hitting ahead of Kirk helps him get a ton of FBs as well, and he crushes FBs.

Went to STL opening day 2001, trust me there will be a bit of a buzz for opening day and eyeballs on the game.

Re- work from home.

Yup. Tentative plan this season is to watch the game from the night prior during work the next day. Just have to stay away from internet all night.

I would love to see even more righty protection around Varsho (2 RHB ahead and 2 RHB behind). Basically make it as difficult as possible for the manager to bring in a lefty just for Varsho.

The way the lineup is constructed today you can bring in a lefty to face Varsho-Kirk-Belt.

That's a fair point.

Yeah they probably PH for Belt in that scenario? Maybe Jansen or Merrifield
