nah, not all dominicans. Just Vlad. All Domincans would be stereotyping based on race, Brownie don't play dat

Vlad worked, man. Was one of the first to show up in the PDC after New Year's, smarten up.

Thank you John - I'm not trying to use race at all FFS. But yes, I would have liked to see Vlad in the lab working with Blue Jay personnel this offseason - using the very best technology possible to ensure he's a 160 wRC+ hitter instead of a 130 wRC+ hitter who leads the league in double plays again. And yes I don't know what he did in the DR this offseason, but all I've ever seen is him flipping some tires, playing home run derby at the sandlot and eating grandma's cooking. He's the example I used because he's a huge key to the Jays success - not because he's from the DR.

I also hope Biggio was at Driveline this offseason, working with the weighted bats, trying to increase his bat speed and improve his stroke so he can return to a 15-20 HR hitter with a 120 wRC+

J-Rod, a Dominican, has been the hardest working player in MLB for a while now.

That's awesome - I didn't know that. I just expect there will soon come a day where all players are there come January 1st - in the lab, under the guidance and direction of the Blue Jays organization. That's all I'm trying to say. No issue with them taking a few months off from the end of the year until then. I think teams that do this first will gain advantages over those who don't.

Is anyone within the organization allowed to do the same? Or would only certain prospects be allowed? Like is Orelvis already there too?

Vlad thinks it's swing selection, not worried about LA, thinks it'll come on do process. Everything he does in statcast is elite.

No offense, but I'd rather hear that from an expert who studies swings and has reviewed various case studies and such. Everything he does in statcast is elite - except his LA.

I don't know this for a fact, but I'd be willing to be the complex is open for anyone in the org any day of the year. For guys in the lower minors that arent bonus babies though it would be a matter of whether or not they can afford to actually be there and not working in the offseason.

It is 365 days a year 24/7

I would imagine it's closed for holidays etc, but suspect it would be open most days. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be.

He should take his case up with the MLBPA veterans that voted for s*** rookie pay, not the ballclub/front office.

I don’t know what point he’s trying to make though. Anyone with a brain can see that rookies are wildly underpaid and vets are wildly overpaid

It's political.

He's doing what he can, within the system, to signal disagreement with the pay schedule and precedents.

Acceptance of a tiny relative concession from the team is tacit acknowledgement that tiny concessions are good enough. Manoah is saying no, f*** this s*** completely.

I’m a Manoah fan and will take the under on his projections all day. But someone more objective could really push back and say he hasn’t proven anything. Even if his underlying numbers were really good, which they’re not, it’s still a sss of him in the league. Lots of guys are good out the gate but then go backwards.

The NFL union as an example totally restructured rookie pay in the last decade or whatever because giving money to unproven guys hamstrings teams and lessens FA activity if the young guys getting paid don’t produce

Still no Brandon Belt? He wasn’t in yesterday, was he?

They said he will only play closer to the end of spring. Not hurt, they just don't think he needs a full spring.

Nope, he and the Jays have a plan to ease him in slowly due to his knee issues from the past few seasons. He’ll still be ready for opening day, no setbacks so far

I don’t know. I have heard that before over the years with guys in ST. They always ended up being hurt or re-injuring themselves. Hope it really is just an over abundance of caution, he is fine and plays over 140 games.
