L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 You’re right a lot of his value comes from the contract he signed. He doesn’t need another gear necessarily but we just saw Garcia have the best season of his career by slashing the chase rate from 9th percentile to 42nd. Robert is 3rd percentile for reference The logical progression says chase rate will decline as age increases but some guys will just always be hackers If you acquired him it would be the same Varsho/KK alignment which just feels weird but beggars can’t be choosers haha
deanmike Verified Member Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 Robert and Benintendi (44.5 combined surplus value on BTV) for Tiedemann and Nimmala (42.7) is almost identical in surplus (median) value.
MikeM3 Verified Member Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 Cody Bellinger has to be the scariest big ticket free agent since Javier Baez - demonstrated replacement level downside - xwOBA in 2023 forty points worse than his wOBA - 2023 career lows in average EV, hard hit rate, and barrel rate - troubling injury history Very Kris Bryant-esque. Could have that one bounce back year without strong peripherals and trick someone into thinking that mvp guy is back
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 I think Ron Washington is a fantastic assistant/infield coach. His love and passion for the game are undeniable. Not sure how he'll do as a Manager though, but I do wish him the best.

Not sure how he'll do as a Manager though, but I do wish him the best. He managed Texas for 8 years and was there for their WS appearances in 2010 and 2011, so ... he'll probably do okay. Second time around he's probably learned a few things. If I remember rightly, he only stepped down from Texas due to wanting/needing to reconcile with his family after cheating on his wife with a reporter and that wasn't going to happen with him as a full time MLB manager.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 Wow Seems dumb tbh Must be something we don't know, also they wouldn't do it without Harper's agreement
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 Phillies report they are leaving Bryce Harper at 1st base permanently going forward... Need to get him out of the OF so they can find more innings for Schwarber out there
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Meh. 1b is still a position and the less chances you give Harper to get hurt, the better
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Seems prudent Big time fantasy baseball implications LOL His WAR takes a big hit. Fantasy less so

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Really good stuff in here. SP: -The write up on Yamamoto is good. He's risky as hell but a 7 year deal could payoff big time for a potential ace at age 25. -Kenta Maeda would be a good get at 2 years 22 mil. -Paxton and Severino on one year deals would also work. 3B: -I'd be interested in a 5 year deal for Matt Chapman, particularly if there is a plan in place to get him to pull dat ball. I would not go over the listed price though. -Candelario at 3 years, 45 mil would work. -Tim Anderson on a one year deal to play 3B? OF/DH: -The Jung-Hoo Lee writeup is worth reading. I'd be interested in him on a 4 year deal after reading that. -One of the Soler/Hoskins/Teoscar types makes sense. Too bad they all bat right handed. -Brantley and Joc Pederson would be good fits. Brantley is the better player but he's riskier.
